is also takes place in own system. However, this action can be also carried out successfully by a foreign reference, if this considers the focused system as own. Hence, these two criteria are considered in my reflexions, to make your criticism handier for me.
First the question must be put up, how is it in your case? Of friendly manner you answer this question perpetually with the statement that you are not a partial of the system of the architecture.
Furthermore the question would be appropriate, whether an external reference (eg CAD) determined architecture. This can be answered with no, because determining and influencing are different things.
Because you stress now your criticism as a foreign criticism, within the architecture the assuption must be put up, that this criticism is not unusual new on the one hand (because this condition were also in other times like that, and presumably also always so remain) and further more a lack of goodwill in your criticism comes to light, which perhaps distinguishes an external reference.
Based on your critique, it would be also desirable in the system of the architecture if the academic rules become satisfyingly followed, even if this is no guarantor for good academic works. Nevertheless, there is an aspect which at least tolerates the evident lack in the Interdiziplinarität of the architecture. This is the classical and still valid determination of the architecture, presumably regulates not only the actions of the architects, but also those who want to become it.
Many who stand in your criticism (the students, as well as the teachers, ... ), live in the awareness that architecture is a profession that combines as many areas around the topic of Building, and the architect is even only one dilettante among the external specialists. In this determination dilettantism is revalued rather positively, because this state the architects enables to assess the facets of a complicated building project better and to form thereby the whole result positively. To be a good architect, you should have circumspect specialists around yourself. And exactly this knows the system of the architecture, because "THE ARCHITECT" helps himself with the logic of other systems (to repair on the one hand his own deficits), and to create an artificial complexity, which ultimately aims to be the complexity of human beeing.
Here "THE ARCHITECTS" becomes a quality-spoken, which currently seems the external reference (CAD, BIM) would like to take claim for themselves.

If would not thought about it, this might be helpful:http://www.amazon.com/The-Alphabet-Algorithm-Writing-Architecture/dp/0262515806/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1376920450&sr=8-1&keywords=mario+carpo"Finally, I’d like to restate my criticisms in general terms. If we are serious about moving architecture and urbanism away from purely artistic considerations and into a more rational arena, there has never been a better time than now. All of us have access to immense computational power which can be applied to problems that have been —until quite recently— intractable. But of course the garbage-in-garbage-out adage holds true; computation can be used to generate large amounts of complexity, but complexity does not equal worth. The only time when it makes sense to invoke computation in the design process is when there is some relevant data that needs to be computed" (David Rutton)I want to make it short, and just ask a few questions, and hope that the following questions are relevant also for you, and not be considered outside your system. i think that the weighting to such questions seem to be more valuable, not for the architects.1. What is wrong from a pure artistic intention?2. What is any sense in purely architectural discourse?3. strictly looked, can be determined sense generally in a purely architectural discourse?4. What is purely architectural discourse?5. What is Funktionalismus or Rationalismus without philosophical support? 6. Would not be the pure functional fulfilment empty ? 7. Would be not a critical position on the promise of purely rational algorithms applied?…
almost 60 seconds to compute, 50x50 points x 35 samples each x 3 rectangles = more than a quarter million curve|curve intersections), but at least not fossilised dog slow.
The inputs of the component are:
P = Plane in which to shoot the isovist sample rays, plane origin equals sample point
N = Number of rays per sample point
R = Maximum radius of sample rays. Any obstacles beyond the radius are ignored
O = List of obstacles (curves only). They will not be projected onto the sample plane, so you can have curves that are only partially 'active'.
Outputs:
P = Point at end of ray (at distance R from sample point) or point at closest obstacle along ray view direction.
D = Distance from sample point to P
H = Boolean indicating whether the ray hit an obstacle or not

Then i sketched the outline curves in rhino with a few control points. The building is symetric so i only draw one side. But i'm not sure what is better for a voroni. a sharp or a soft surface? Or dose i need points?
So i have some questions:
1. how can i loft the curves correctly? My problem is that if i divide my curves for more control points, grasshopper automatically change my curve. thats ok but than i've the problem with a short curve, which fit bevor with the large one, but after the devision it can't connect.
So i tryed to duplicate the long curve and split it but with the shatter battery it dosen't work. It always cut the curve somewhere.
2. my next problem is, the curves in rhino should be my main construction, which is always visible. so i decided to offset the curves that i got a colum. but i don't know how to orient the offset curves in the xyz axis.
3. hopefully if i have the surfaces, how can i build a voroni which is offsetet, and has maybe some different thicknesses? :D
Would be really great if s.o. can help me. I tried a lot but not every thing is simple.
Sorry for my bad english.
Thx max

, but without modifying the lists order:
suposing i have a structure list
(Paths = 75)
{0} (N = 51)
{2} (N = 51)
{3} (N = 51)
{4} (N = 51) ...............
I`m trying to apply to that list of values the statement:
if x>y then x=0
if x<y then x=x/z
but i need the list structure to keep exactly the same.
I`d be very thankful for any ideas on how to approach this problem.
Many thanks,
Roberto

ported to Rhino and "set" in Grasshopper, i trim both surfaces from their rectangular bases so that when sDivide is used it creates and distributes the same number of points on each surface. But heres the problems: a) if i use the "trimmed" surfaces with SrfGrid it errors warning: "A point in the grid is null. fitting operation aborted".I'd learned this was caused by "nulls" replacing position Data Items when the rectangular grid(surface base) was trimmed away. So i used Clean Tree which worked removing all nulls, then Shift Paths\Flip Matrix to create line-endpoint pairs for Polyline\Evaluate Curve. I Flattened the last Flip Matrix placing all data items in one source for SrfGrid, like in the working Untrim\CopyTrim definition. This time,.b) SrfGrid errored with: "The UCount value is not valid for this amount of points",.So, i substituted a 356 value, numeric Slider in the Addition B param., and tested its range until a valid UCount was found. Then SrfGrid fitted a surface thru the points, BUT,d) those SrfGrid surfaces are extremely deformed even thought the points preceding it from Evaluate Curve are accurate,SEE: def: "3b-RGH_SurfaceBlend.gh",AND,.a2) if i use Untrim with CopyTrim then SrfGrid works, but since the Jokers limbs WILL be in different surface positions then the blends between the Arm (for example) will rise from its relative FLAT position on the untrimmed Source surface to the Arm on the Target surface, rather than morphing from the Corresponding Arm position on the Source surface,. ..see def.: "4-RGH_SurfaceBlend.gh"So please let me know,..1) how to produce accurate surfaces from SrfGrid in def.: "3b-RGH_SurfaceBlend.gh",. ..(NOTE: BOTH these def's contain 2 indentical, "internalized" surfaces, but if def. 3b can be made to work it will also work with Dis-similar surfaces)2) which component to use or how else to determine the correct UCount value for a specified amount of points(ie:155), re: SrfGrid error: "The UCount value is not valid for this amount of points",.3) how else to force SrfGrid to work with Trimmed surfaces?, AND,..4) how to force intersurface, point-blend correspondence lines: Polylines(PLine) to be connected between correctly! correponding positions (Limbs) on the surfaces?,
Really! appreciate all help, definitions and kind generosity common to this knowledgable membership,

of them. If they were already suggested and deemed impossible, i apologize.First, it would be really cool to have a right-click menu item for any geometry retaining module, that does the following: bakes the geometry, then disconnects all inherited data from the module, and assigns the baked version as locally defined. This is a one-time only thing, of course - it would be cool because if you have a "step-definition", that is, you have clear bottlenecks in your dataflow, and at some point you become satisfied with what you have so far, and only need to manually tweak some stuff to move on, you can discard the "already solved part of your definition. It's just a sort of "casting in stone" of partial results, that helps especially with simple work-defs or helper-defs. You could also call it something kickass like "manual override" or "emergency/hand b(r)ake".Second, if you have a component that outputs to a lot of others, and you want to change it with something else, you usually have to painstakingly reconnect all those wires, and if it doesn't work out, you do it right back or undo until you fingers bleed. Just as there is an extract parameter upstream for locally defined values, a downstream "extend parameter" with one rightclick menu item would make switching between various components easier.
Third, maybe a hot-key that you press and then click on a wire, which creates a "data" component at that point, splitting the wire and effectively allowing you to hijack it.
Lastly, maybe this is a stupid question, but what happened to the "clusters"? I mean i know they ended abruptly because of technical difficulties, but collapsing a group to a single component like that was totally awesome.Oh, and a minor bug repor from the v7.053 - it's not important, but mildly annoying: when you have an embedded graft, flatten, reparam or expression into a plug, the component extends to the left with the nifty little icons, and that looks very nice, but the wires still go in the old place, so at first glance i always think the wires are plugged in wrong. Is it possible to move the plug along with the component icon edge, or at least make those little indicators smaller, so that the error is minimized?
Thanks for your time,Hope i was pertinent
Andrei I.ps: the lolcat component is adorable, but i do believe that overall worldwide grasshopper productivity has dropped by various increments of those 20 sec it takes for it to refresh. Sadly accustomed with the feeling of guilt associated to watching around 50 lolpics refresh, I suggest that every 5 refreshes or so, you get a "stop looking at this and get back to work" message. It is at least a good way to derogate responsibility for tempting people to watch kitty-pics all day. :D…
es at the beginning. But as I make changes to the input (or just hit the recompute button) the time it takes to execute increases. This has happened to me with other scripts I've written with the python component. Why does this happen? And how do I fix it? Does python hold onto data from one execution to the next? The only solution I have found is to relaunch Rhino. Even if I copy the component into a fresh grasshopper canvas, the computation time does not return to original.
The images below illustrate the time increase. I simply hit the recompute button between each pass. All inputs remain the same the whole time. There are 6400 curves being projected. I will say that with fewer curves, the increase in time is nonexistent or perceivable. (I have 24 GB RAM and it is did not even reach 50% of usage during the tests)
My python code:
import ghpythonlib.components as ghcompimport ghpythonlib.parallel
def project (tempc): tempresult=ghcomp.Project(tempc,B,D) return tempresult
a=ghpythonlib.parallel.run(project,C,True)
I have attached the GH file with the inputs internalized if anyone wants to try for themselves.
