With that in mind, you could use either the subtraction method (set the fitness target to 0) or the division method (set the fitness target to 1).
I know the problem you are trying to solve is just a way to get to know Galapagos, but be aware that there are an infinite number of solution to your problem (there is a infinite line along which all points are equidistant to your two reference points). If you are trying to create an equilateral triangle, the distance between the two reference points needs to figure into your solution.
I do believe that Galapagos works within the limits of the sliders, although it does not seem to pay any heed to the numerical accuracy (so even if the slider floats to 3 decimal places, Galapagos will examine solutions to 8 or 9 decimal places).…

me. Im not sure that using using 4pt surface component would be the best solution, especially when it comes to more complex point clouds.
I thought that maybe it could be possible to create surfaces from all the points and then cull the inside surfaces to keep the outside solid shape only.
In the same idea, could it be possible to get the outline of a point cloud.
In the current definition points 5 8 2 0 7 9 3 5, seen from top view define the outline curve of the point cloud (imagining that points have no Z value)
Thank you for your help…

thisthe errorthat appen when i lunch E+ with only one zone....what is going on???? …
taTree.
2. Since GH is acyclic by design we can't pick individually (without code, that is) our "picks" for the iceberg ... thus we need a global policy applied to ALL grid points at once.
3. This is what the next part does: it picks randomly some iceberg stuff and modifies their Z by a random value. If the Z is always "above" the grid or not it depends upon the domain of values to operate. Seed means "roll the bones again" (meaning another collection).
4. So we have the modified points Data Tree (that are steady - acting as the tips of the iceberg). Let's call them Anchors.
5. If we subtract set 4 from 1 we have the points prone to vary according some manipulation. Kangaroo does that manipulation (this is the best add-on that GH has to offer by 1M miles made by a very clever fella).
6. But if we instruct Kangaroo to do the job... he makes chaos since the points in 4 are not sufficient: we need perimeter steady points that act as Anchors as well. So we manage some logic to pick a variable set of perimeter points and we "merge" 4 and 6 and we have the final set of Anchors on hand - whilst all the rest are points willing to change.
7. Kangaroo is a physics engine meaning that the only thing that understands is ... er ... points and their relation (the "line" connecting them, that is). Kinda like a CPU that understands 0 and 1 and nothing else.
8. So we provide Kangaroo info about all the lines involved: how "stiff" they are and what is the expected/desired final length.
9. By double clicking the Kangaroo component ... the "simulation" starts running (in some kind of "loops") and goes towards an "equilibrium" where all our desires are satisfied - or the solution's entropy is the minimum possible (well up to some level, he he). Kangaroo displays a small control dialog that allows you to halt the process or reset it (meaning: start again).
10. If the instructions are "good"/"proper" the "loops" (iterations) are relatively few: if K does 1M "loops" ... this means that your instructions are silly or not well thought.
After stopping Kangaroo ... we have (hopefully) a "well" distorted collection of points (and their equivalent mesh) to proceed further via components usually found in the WB add-on
PS: If all the above sound Greek to you ... it's because I'm Greek, he he.
Moral: Get the gist of Kangaroo ASAP - worth spending some time I recon. If you do that and you need examples (other than the ones available at download time) ... well I have more than 300 (from simple to ultra paranoid).…
achieving some preliminarily/conceptual Academic solution that "may" qualify as "realistic". I have several defs that do similar stuff ... but this is an Academic forum and as you can understand a real-life solution would never appear here.
But let's forget the W task (truss out of relaxed mesh with depth, known as W in our trade). See for instance a step prior the "thickness".
General guideline:
1. Create a boundary (a BrepFace) and attempt to do some "reasonable" Mesh via Mesh Machine.
2. Mastermind a policy to manage anchors (naked and/or clothed vertices). This appears easy but is impossible without code IF you want to do it interactively.
3. Separate naked edges from clothed ones (as we do in real-life in tensile membranes etc etc) in order to apply different goal parameters.
4. Relax the mesh (K231 engine).
5. Either work with a "geodesic" structure (W = 0) or make a truss out of the mesh in 4. In either case decide the real-life system in use (say a Mero KK or some other).
6. Check clash truss members issues and interactively vary vertices in order to resolve them.
7. Create all the required connectivity Trees (VV, VE, EV).
8. Mastermind the skin solution (only for experienced pros: avoid at any cost that one).
My advice? Unless you are very determined ... well ... what about choosing an easier design task?

mber of assumptions can be safely made, and this is not the case for equations with unknown behaviour. The initial division may be too coarse to find a specific peak, and this approach cannot handle discontinuities either.
Assume we're trying to find where a function becomes zero, within some domain. We know ahead of time that there may be any number of solutions; zero (x²+1), one (x+1), two (x²-1), many (Sin(x)) and even infinite (Sin(1/x)).
So we evaluate the equation at 9 values, dividing it into 8 spans (the dashed purple curve is how the search algorithm sees the equation). We immediately determine that none of the spans crosses the y=0 line, so either we give up or we focus on spans 5 & 6 as they got closest. We'll never find the two solution in span 3.
Or maybe the equation results in a discontinuous graph, like so:
It seems as though the answer must be somewhere in span 4, but no matter how hard we search there, we'll never find it.…

hopper and the GH file.
2. There is a drop down menu at the top of Pure Data that reads "Media". Click on "Midi". If your device connection is working, you should see it show up as an option. Set the device to MIDI in. You don't really need to set a MIDI out unless you are planning to send messages back to the device (not sure why you would want to).
3. The boxes labeled "ctlin" with a number are the Control Change in's. In Pure Data go to the "Edit" menu and click on "Edit Mode". Click on one of the "ctlin #" boxes and change the number to match the Control Change number of your physical controller. Mine starts with 5 in the upper right and goes to 65. Each control change number shows up on the display window of my device when I use it which made it easy.
4. Continue this process for all your controls. Delete the unneccesary "ctlin #" boxes by selecting them with a fence and clicking "delete". When you hover over one of the wires you should see and "x". Press the "backspace" key to delete it.
5. Now go down to the "pack f f f ..." box. There should be as many "f" or "floats" in that box as there are you number of controllers. Delete the remaining "f".
6. Next look at the box below that reads "send /0...". Make sure to keep the "/0". If you delete the "/" it will crash Grasshopper. Change the number "5" to match your first control change number. Leave the $numbers alone. You'll want to keep them sequential. Continue change the control change numbers to match all of yours. The $numbers should match the order in which you wired each controller to the "pack f f f..." box.
7. For testing purposes hover over the input on the upper let of the "print" box and connect it to the out of the "send" box. If everything is mapped correctly, working properly, and you go back to the "main" PD window you should see a list of all controllers will a value (0 to 127) next to it. As you turn a knob, the value next to the control change number will increase from 0 to 127. This will give you a good indication of whether or not everything is working and if you mapped it correctly.
8. Click on the "connect OSC" box. You might need to exit out of "edit mode" and back to "performance" mode in the PD canvas.
9. Go To Grasshopper. If everything is working you should see the Panel read "new message" when you turn a knob. At this point it should be pretty obvious how to modify the Grasshopper components. I've tried to keep everything as consistent as possible. Since I filtered out the "/0", the "explode data treat" component starts at 0, the numbers are shifted down by 1.
I just left the IP address, etc. alone on the gHowl UDP component. Just make sure the "port number" matches the OSC port number on the send in Pure Data. If you crash, you may need to choose a new number.
Hope that helps. Let me know if you have any questions. If your computer is not recognizing your midi controller, you may need to install "Midiyoke". I did at first, but it turns out I didn't need it after all.
Best of luck.

the item 0 from the first list with the Item 1 from the second list and this one with the item 3 of the third list, and so on.
I tried the function BANG! and it works, but the problem is, that there should be the possibility to change the amount of items and lists. In the case of the picture I have 8 items in each list. But in another case there can be 20 ones for example.
Do you know, what i can do to slove my problem?
And I hope, you understand what I mean. English is not my valuable quality. :-)
Best wishes from Germany

radiance parameters to get rid of blotching. To add another level of complexity to my problem, I am running simulations with a translucent material with the following properties: void trans testTrans
0
0
7 0.478 0.478 0.478 0.000 0.010 0.178 0.635
I have had no issues with the renderings when I use clear glazing, as seen on this image:
However the blotching-issue becomes very noticeable when I introduce translucent glazing into the scene:
For the two above cases I used the following parameters:
_av_ is set to 0
xScale is set to 2
_ab_ is set to 6
_dc_ is set to 0.5
_aa_ is set to 0.2
_ad_ is set to 2048
_st_ is set to 0.5
yScale is set to 2
_ps_ is set to 4
_ar_ is set to 64
_as_ is set to 2048
_ds_ is set to 0.25
_pt_ is set to 0.1
_dr_ is set to 1
_pj_ is set to 0.9
_dp_ is set to 256
_dt_ is set to 0.25
_lr_ is set to 6
_dj_ is set to 0.5
_lw_ is set to 0.01
I ran another test with increased Radiance parameters and got the following output:
with the following parameters:
_av_ is set to 0
xScale is set to 6
_ab_ is set to 6
_dc_ is set to 0.75
_aa_ is set to 0.1
_ad_ is set to 4096
_st_ is set to 0.15
yScale is set to 6
_ps_ is set to 2
_ar_ is set to 128
_as_ is set to 4096
_ds_ is set to 0.05
_pt_ is set to 0.05
_dr_ is set to 3
_pj_ is set to 0.9
_dp_ is set to 512
_dt_ is set to 0.15
_lr_ is set to 8
_dj_ is set to 0.7
_lw_ is set to 0.005
Although the second blotching case is much better than the first, it is still very bad for hours when the sun is lower in the sky. The above images are rendered for a clear sky at 18:00 in Germany in a West-facing room.
Sorry for the long post! Can someone help? Kind regards, Örn
