y having to make custom size windows, and instead of having to re-draw them each and every time, I thought I would utilize the power of Grasshopper to create all the scalable line work and dimensioning, so that now all I have to do is type the dimensions in a neat and tidy Human UI window, hit 'BAKE!!!', and poof!
The GUI has the ability to parameterize width, height, depth, stile width, top rail thickness, bottom rail thickness, glass stop size, glass stop reveals on both the interior and exterior sides. This definition also has the ability to change the glass stop profile curve. In it's current state, the curve's preview is turned off, but one could turn it on, bake it, alter it, or create a whole new curve and set the curve that way.
Most of you seasoned Grasshoppers will probably look at my definition, and think to yourselves, "what a tangled mess!", and you know what? It probably could be rewritten a whole lot cleaner and more efficient. But as it stands now, it works pretty good. The only issue that I'm still trying to figure out, is that when I hit the 'BAKE!!!' button, it bakes the curves 10 times, and the dimensions 6 times. I know it has to do with the way the data is brought into HumanUI, but I can't figure it out. The easy temporary fix is to just bake all the iterations, and then once back in Rhino, select all duplicates, and delete.
Once the window has been baked into Rhino, the only thing I have to draw in is the rectangles in the vertical and horizontal section views, as that is really simple to do and we vary glass thicknesses and offsets a ton, I feel it's just easier to finalize in Rhino.
Then, it's just a matter of opening up a new layout, add my title block, add a 1-detail view, and my annotations, and it's complete. Takes me all of five minutes to do a job that used to take me 30 minutes to an hour!

t strange because when I ran the same model in Archsim switching off the Airflow Network mode and working on Simple Ventilation (for wind and buoyancy) it took around 2 minutes only to run the simulation for a single day. I don’t understand why the big difference in time since both plugins use Energy Plus?
- Do you happen to know why Airflow network simulation produce quite different results (temperature and ach) from those obtained from Simple Ventilation (both in Archsim)?
- I agree that I do not need the Air flow Network now, since at this phase I am trying to optimize the form of the double façade (folds, opening sizes, depth, etc.) to get a balance between temperature, airflow, and daylighting needs in the office rooms. I really think heat gain, airflow, daylight (thermal and visual comfort) all influence each other and if possible should be studied together while designing building skins. The plan was to do this using Galapagos, but I am not so sure now given the long simulation time (adding to it daylight simulation too). Anyway, in a later phase I wanted to know how the airflow in the office rooms would be like…as I understand, that could not be done yet in HB right? that’s why I thought of the Airflow network in Archsim.
- Thanks for reassuring that the double façade could be treated as a single zone. I am adjusting the model now as you said..that first trial was just to know if it works. I’ll probably use custom openings as some of them will be glazed (on some of the triangular faces, and sizes will depend on incident solar radiation on each face) while others are small air openings (on the mullions and the top horizontal face) to ventilate the cavity and avoid overheating. Also when external air temperature is within comfort range, it could be used for ventilation he office spaces.

However I am not sure if this is considered and official validation, and weather it would be valid for complex geometry, not just a room in the form of a cube as in the report. Anyway I don’t think it will work out for me as I tried exporting a gbxml and when I opened it in DesignBuilder it does not understand that this is a zone…also all openings (which I added later to the file) were not exported. I tried exporting your parents' house since I’ve been working on your tutorials (great videos by the way! So much help!) and when I opened it in Design builder, not all rooms were understood as zones (especially the attic). So that rules out DB for me I guess.. I downloaded OpenFoam but turns out to be quite a challenge to use. Lots of learning awaits me!

and ran into a little speed bump.
My questions begin by describing what I have so far, and that as the screenshot describes, I have a list of centroids that I have derived out of 40 boxes (generated through a loop and hoopsnake). I have split the 40 centroids into 4 lists using the sift pattern component (1,0,0,0) & (0,1,0,0) & (0,0,1,0) & (0,0,0,1). That ended up with 4 lists each made of 40 items (lots of NULLS in the place of each 0). I then used the clean tree to remove the nulls, and that successfully gave me 4 lists of 10 items each. When feeding the four lists simultaneously to the clean tree component I got a flat list combining the 4 sublists.
Finally my questions:
1- I want to recombine those 4 lists into a single tree structure (1 list with 4 branches, 1 for each of those lists, instead of 1 flat list). I tried the unflatten component but can't seem to get it done the way I want. Please note that I want the number of branches to be variable.
2- Is there a way to automate the sift pattern component generation instead of manually entering the above mentioned patterns? Because I want the pattern generation to be parametric and responsive to the number of loops used earlier to generate the boxes.

housing for an LED PCB. The object is a parametric series of discs with an opening inside made up of a mirrored curve [drawn in Rhino, mirrored in GH]
It is madde up of N number of discs which can be varied through the distance between the circular outline using a divided curve [straight line in GH]. The length of the object can be varied using a length parameter, and the shape using a graph mapper.
I've chosen to cap the end two discs by creating two sets of outlines. One set has the central aperture cutout for the PCB, whereas the other set is a trimmed circle [achieved using the "trim box" layer profile in Rhino]
I then cull the outer two curves from one array, and the inner N-2 curves from the inner array.
The final outcome I am after is to create the housing as both an STL and a 2d template for laser cutting. This is a learning exercise for me as well as a cool project.
I had it working OK, but then I adjusted the profile for the PCB and joined it and now it is giving me some grief. I am sure the answer is obvious. The problem is the PCB profile is made up of 3 polycurves, whereas the disc profile is one planar curve. I have no problem using the flatten option so there are only N sets of curves coming out of the "Join Curves" component. However when I cull the curves, the planar curves making up the exterior edge cull fine, but the interior curves [the joined, PCB profile] culls in a different [irrational?] order to what I would expect. If I connect the single planar curve to the culls section, it works fine, but the joined line section just won't play.
In the instance uploaded N = 10, based on spacings. And index white it appears that 0 and 9 are diagonal to what I'd expect, although if you fiddle with the values they go all over the place.
Can someone please help me and explain what I did wrong? Files are attached... I have screen grabbed the relevant section, but it is grouped in red and labelled as "problem child" :)

I don't really have any knowledge in CFD simulation and only watched the tutorials and managed to get the sample files to work. So this time, I replaced the starting geometry my building which is a curve building, I wonder if that is the issue that caused this problem. Can anyone enlighten me on the issue?

Grasshopper, permette di esprimere al massimo le qualità e le potenzialità della modellazione Nurbs abbandonando in parte l'interfaccia classica di Rhinoceros. Quest'ultimo infatti viene sostituito da un menù a tendine dove vengono collezionati nodi utili alla composizione di algoritmi risolutivi.

Nella seconda parte del corso lo strumento viene specializzato affrontando editing e trasformazioni complesse sulle superfici:

Tassellazione spaziale di superfici a doppia curvatura;
Gestione di parametri variabili per la progettazione di definizioni finalizzate al controllo del movimento;
Ideazione di algoritmi per il passaggio dal modello digitale al modello reale attraverso la tecnica dello sliceing;
Alla fine del corso, verrà rilasciato l’attestato di partecipazione ad un corso di Rhinoceros qualificato certificato dalla casa sviluppatrice McNeel, valido anche per la richiesta di crediti formativi universitari.
