Illuminants like "A" or "D65" are spectral power distributions that are defined (as per CIE S 014-2/E:2006) for wavelengths ranging from 300nm to 830nm.

For illuminance and luminance calculations, the radiation from such illuminants are converted to Lux or Candela/sq.m by weighing them against the Photopic Luminous Efficiency function (also called as V-lambda):

Where y corresponds to the V-lambda function and J corresponds to an illuminant like "D65" or "A".
So, why is all this relevant? Honeybee/Radiance also use a similar method for calculation of luminous flux, illuminance and luminance. However, in the case of Honeybee/Radiance the lighting calculations are limited only 3 (R,G,B) channels (and not the 300nm to 830nm). So the equation (1) from above becomes something like:
F = 47.4*R+120*G+11.6*B
Where (R,G,B) refers to the spectral power of the radiation and the numbers (47.4,120,11.6) relate to the V-lambda function. So, the bottom line is that an accurate representation of CIE illuminants is not possible inside Radiance/Honeybee as the spectral information is severely restricted. What is possible with Radiance/Honeybee is to create a fairly accurate representation of brightness of the sky. ly this is a Rhino.Python problem and not a Grasshopper issue, but it could apply to both!
I was trying to take a simple example of moving a ball around and see how it could be animated through Rhino.Python. The code works great in wire frame with now memory issues at all. However, when I switch the view to Shaded or Rendered, things go south pretty quickly. The RAM usage of Rhino which was steady around 350mb (ish) now grows every frame after a minute or so, it is in the GB's and never drops even after the script has stopped.What gives? Clearly this must be possible because Bongo does something similar when it does animations. Check out my code below and I would love to hear your thoughts.

When you construct l'arc capable —by using compass— you obviously need to find the centre of this arc. This can be easily done in GH in many ways by using some trigonometry (e.g. see previous —great— solutions). Whole circles instead of arcs provide supplementary isoptics —β-isoptic and (180º-β)-isoptic—. Coherent normals let you work in any plane.
Or you could just construct β-isoptics of AB by using tangent at A (or B). I mean [Arc SED] component.
If you want the true β-isoptic —the set of all the points— you should use {+β, -β} degrees (2 sides; 2 solutions; 2 arcs), but slider in [-180, +180] degrees provides full range of signed solutions. Orthoptic is provided by ±90º. Notice that ±180º isoptic is just AB segment itself, and 0º isoptic should be the segment outside AB —(-∞, A] U [B, +∞)—. [Radians] component is avoidable.
More compact versions can be achieved by using [F3] component. You can choose among different expressions the one you like the most as long as performs counter clockwise rotation of vector AB, by 180-β degrees, around A; or equivalent. [Panel] is totally avoidable.
Solutions in XY plane —projection; z = 0—, no matter A or B, are easy too. Just be sure about the curve you want to find the intersection with —Curve; your wall— being contained in XY plane.

s for architectural design, has been heralded as the new paradigm in architecture for the last decade. Digital design techniques coupled with rapid prototyping have permeated architectural education and practice at all levels. But, besides the endless rhetoric and baseless forms, what can these methods actually contribute to the field? What is the scope of their use?
This workshop seeks to answer these questions by investigating surfaces, surface mathematics and manipulations, and using this investigation to introduce students to the issues of design and fabrication of artifacts.
The workshop will thus introduce participants to the basic concepts for design utilizing scripting techniques, through the exploration of the Python language for Rhinoceros. Together with the study of syntax, data types and scripting techniques the focus will be put on the understanding of the digital tools in relation with the common practice and the ways to approach problems a designer might encounter while using them.

The programme brings together a range of experts – tutors and lecturers – from internationally acclaimed academic institutions and practices, Architectural Association, Zaha Hadid Architects, among others.
Taking place at the unique atmosphere of AA’s London home, the three-week long programme is formulated as a two-stage process. During the initial stage, participants are introduced to core concepts related to material processes, computational methods, and various digital fabrication techniques. vid Rutten (the creator of Grasshopper) as the leading poster. Amassing just over 7000 posts. I have been a regular contributor since this forum starter 5 years ago and I am only half way there.
The line between "the only stupid question is the unasked question" and the "why is no one here answering my questions question" needs to be walked with care.
We have all been where you are now. Admittedly it was probably easier for me as there wasn't that much to the program when I started using it and my learning curve has been an incremental one as things get added.
It doesn't help that all the documentation that is around is out of date as soon as it gets published, but that is the nature of software in BETA... things change. I know of a concerted effort by the powers to be to document Grasshopper better. But this is a little way of from completion.
If it helps I can think of two examples of questions that I either should have asked or did and regretted.
Firstly I had no idea you could bake geometry into the rhino document when I first used Explicit History (former name of GH) I mean what the hell does a fried egg have to do with it :) so I simply ignored the plug-in for a month or so. If I'd asked how do I get my Red transparent surfaces into Rhino, I would have been using it a lot sooner.
Secondly I wished for a way to display the output of a component so that I could see it without having to hover over the tool tip each time. I didn't realise that Post-it Note (or Panel as it is now due to copyright issues) had an input as well as an output.
The most important thing to remember is that Grasshopper is an extension of Rhino. By not knowing Rhino you are at a greater disadvantage than the rest.
If you don't know how you should go about modelling something in Rhino how are you going to be able to develop meaningful algorithms in Grasshopper.
