A. None. They all fear change!
Every single time Windows has brought out a significant update everyone I have ever met has greeted it with disdain, yet I couldn't imagine using the interface to windows 95 again... and I certainly couldn't imagine going back to using Explicit History again.
Personally I try to embrace the changes, but I often find that for a few of them several weeks will go by before I hate it or love it... and then give feedback.
I think air your view on specifics and you will get a lot of discussion from both sides of the equation so don't be afraid to speak up about it.…
ining the group that created the PRC software, but since our KRC-1 is very old (WIN 95) there may be some compatibility issues, and the cost to join that group is a little steep for me right now, so i'd rather not pay for membership until I know their software will work for me.
Having said that, what's the best way to get started learning this process? Has anyone else out there been using the PRC and could give me some tips?
I'd like to be able to machine reliefs and full-3d sculptures with my Kuka. I've been doing the reliefs on a CNC router.
After looking at the PRC in Grasshopper, it's my understanding that generating toolpaths involves using the surfaces of objects. My biggest mental block is that I don't understand how to generate the toolpaths for multi-sided objects (like a full 3D, in-the-round sculpture). I've tried searching for how to create toolpaths in Grasshopper without the PRC, and it is possible, but it's still too big of a jump for a very inexperienced user like myself.
I'm looking to this forum for initial advice, as there's only one person I can email about the PRC for that advice unless I pay up. Thanks for any help!…
e BIOS as i noticed that i was required to do so. This is the progress i made. Now the file "do something". It takes about 4 minutes in the blockMesh component, so something is happening. But at the end of the 4 minutes i get the same error as before. Tried to run the start_OF.bat externally, but no use either.
Those are the snapshots of both of them:
Be patient ... and bear with me. Sorry for bothering with this ... and thanks,
-A.
P.S. There is a chance it is related to the firewall of my university, or some other security issue for those trying to apply virtual machines/hosting.
I'll try at home in the evening.

ce condition I believe, which yes usually this is 0. Bare in mind that OF divides pressure by density, so if you want the 'real' pressure you would need to multiply the results by 1.205 (perhaps we add this in BF at some point but it's easy in native GH).
Vector based velocity is a very good idea, and a nice and easy way to model these kind of flows!
If you wish to experiment even further with the custom boundary condition components you can try implementing a flowRateInletVelocity boundary condition (see https://github.com/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-3.0.x/blob/master/src/finiteVolume/fields/fvPatchFields/derived/flowRateInletVelocity/flowRateInletVelocityFvPatchVectorField.H)
It will allow you set the flows in m3/s, which is handy for usual HVAC specs. The direction of the patch follows the normal of the surface. Setting a minus in the volumetric flow rate assigns an opposite direction.
Thanks for using and sharing! Keep them coming!
Kind regards,
Theodore.
P.S.: Try this as an expirement. Increase the refinement of your mesh, factor of 4 should be nice. You can simply reduce the the blockMesh cell size by 4 to accomplish that. Try running the case and see the impact on the residual graph.

ters thesis on exactly stratification in atria and big semi-outdoor rooms.I am testing a bunch of variables and I was thus looking into utilizing Butterfly. However, this new update came too late in the process for me to fully test out.
I am very interested in your findings, as I had to go to the old fashion (and correct but yet very slow) way of using Ansys Fluent for my investigations.
I would however very much like to compare my results with the ways of the parametric tools, i.e. Butterfly: How valid are the results of BF so far? What could be optimized? When is the parametric tool favourable over the hardcore tools when considering these factors? What are the future objectives?
Could I therefore borrow your script later on at some point to use for my own to generate some analyses?Or would it maybe be possible for you to (in a month or so?) to create a very basic template script that is prepared for temperature analyses in an very simple atrium-like room maybe with an inlet and outlet as you are (or seem to be) making them? I am willing to go with NDA or give full credit to you and your work.
Very interesting what you are doing!!

llowing for higher skyline and construction areas along public transportation corridors. Up until now, neighborhoods once characterized by two-story houses, gardens and ground- floor open shopfront programs, have been completely transformed by the introduction of fortressed monolithic residential and office towers, which lack any sort of urban street life.
The new master-plan, however, now requires buildings to have an open street façade to accommodate multiple programs. Led by tutors from UNStudio (www.unstudio.com), the AA Visiting School São Paulo will address the changes being prescribed by the new masterplan through the redefinition of the tower typology in the extending of the ground of street culture, green landscapes and ecological mediation along the vertical axis of these buildings. For this, the workshop will teach advanced digital design and fabrication techniques to explore a series of novel differentiating structural and environmental organizations in the redefinition of the São Paulo skyscraper.

fear that it would be too hard, but I was pleasantly surprised. Not that bad, even for a C# novice. I am attaching the *.cs files for three components:
SerialCreate component creates the serial port instance. This component controls port parameters and opens/closes the port. (It won't close the port, however.) SerialWrite and Read try to interact with the port created by SerialCreate. I can verify that the port opens because it's unavailable to other terminal applications, but if I try to close the port, it won't...it stays open until I restart Rhino. SerialWrite works, because I can see the rx light on my device light up when I enter text in grasshopper. SerialRead does not work. I blue screen with a DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION.
All in all, not too bad for a day's work. I'll forget the user objects and go for custom components. The question that still remains is that I don't think I'm correctly or efficiently sharing the serial port instance with the other classes. Again, this is just a hack, but I'm happy I'm closer to solving the problem (or so it seems). If anyone has any ideas about how to better go about this, I'd appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks again,

2. This actually means that the parts on duty they don't differ that much. Meaning that we can use an "average" size (and "local" topology) acting as the Jack for all trades.
3. Meaning that we can effectively solve the abstract topology with an abstract app the likes of GH and then place in properly defined coordinate systems all the real-life bits and nuts ... closely "emulating" a pro solution (that could "adjust" the parts as well).
4. This means that one particular C# needs more lines of code since as it is it defines cable axis on a per nod to node basis ... but in fact these are defined as the min segment between curves (circles to be exact).
5. Additionally the end part of each strut differs depending on how many pairs of stabilizing cables are used (either 2 or 1). Meaning some lines of code more for defining the proper coordinate systems for the instance definitions.
6. This is the reason that I've postponed mailing to you the 4 horsemen (because PRIOR finishing the whole you MUST define what parts to use: the classic bottom-top design approach).
But in order to receive the Salvation (aka: Apocalypse) you MUST answer correctly to a simple puzzle:
Provided that money is no object, pick your car:

and Grasshopper. Recently I tried doing some test project just to see what can I do. My target is to design a small house for an atom family. Though as you might think - it'll be a parametric one. And I encountered exactly what's in the title. So here it goes: 1. Something is wrong with the measuring units in the complex profiles. I met this problem while making I-beam. In ArchiCAD it had 127/76 mm while in Grasshopper i had 127000/76200mm so a little bigger. 2. I'm unable to turn off the preview. I mean when I delete something in Grasshopper/Rhino it still exists in ArchiCAD. I have to unlock it and then delete it. 3. Coordinates for points seem broken. They have to be multiplied 1000 times to match. 4. Now one of the most important. Is it possible to somehow SHOW Grasshopper where are already made in ArchiCAD objects. Even if they'll remain still. For example I want to make a parametrical roof. Do I have to model whole building from scratch in Grasshopper or is there some fast way to "import" existing scene so I can limit my work with Grasshopper only to parametrical one. 5. Is it possible to make "points" as controlling points in AC? Like, if I'd like to make a beam in a desired place which I will mark by that point and then I will "show" Grasshopper that point and tell it to make an object in there so I can control it within grasshopper. I tried ti do this using AC Control Point but when I click "Send changes" button, Grasshopper and Rhino crush immediately. It only happens then, with control points. 6. It seems that "move" component won't work with "2D curve" component connected directly. It is possible that some of those problems are outdated. I was playing around in Grasshopper a few months ago, before summer break, but now I plan to try something new and it would be nice to know what to do. I appreciate any answer to any of those questions. Please help, you guys, are my only hope. Thanks in advance! Karol…
