ield I had to use some different jumper settings as if I wanted to use the conceptinetics DMX library.
To send a chanel and a value I had to send a string from grasshopper like 001c255w to send the highest DMX value to chanel 1. See description in my code below:
/*jumper setup for Conceptinetics DMX shield:1st jumper to the right: "EN_"2nd jumper to the right: "DE"3rd jumper to the left: "TX-io"4th jumper to the left: "RX-io"
this jumper setup allows the shield to do the following actions without having to change any jumper:- transfer this arduino sketch to the arduino board- receive data from the serial port (grasshopper)- send data to a DMX device
<number>c : Select DMX channel<number>v : Set DMX channel to new value
These can be combined:001c255w002c0w003c0w --> Set channel 1 to value 255 and channel 2 and 3 to value 0.it is important that the channels are being addressed with 3 digits (001c instead of 1c)
http://dmxshield.blogspot.de/ http://playground.arduino.cc/Learning/DMX http://code.google.com/p/tinkerit/wiki/SerialToDmx http://groups.google.com/group/dmxsimple */
#include <DmxSimple.h>
void setup() { Serial.begin(9600); Serial.println("SerialToDmx ready"); Serial.println(); digitalWrite (2, HIGH);}int value = 0;int channel;void loop() { int c; while(!Serial.available()); c = Serial.read(); if ((c>='0') && (c<='9')) { value = 10*value + c - '0'; } else { if (c=='c') channel = value; else if (c=='w') { DmxSimple.write(channel, value); } value = 0; }}

Just my first thoughts. That breakdown in optimization is just an example. Maybe 'sections' is an old-school way of seeing things, I just wanted to share some thoughts on the kind of content I look forward to seeing. It can be pragmatic topics, but also theoretical, and allow folks to share their projects and research. Some categories are specific, others broad. I suppose I'm interested in community building with regards to computational design. I think SmartGeometry attempted to accomplish this at some point in the past, to some degree. However their focus appears to be in the workshops and challenges.
I recall the silly flame wars that the CG industry had 20 years ago (lame). I'd avoid that, even if it meant forbidding the mention of any specific software in certain areas or in the entire forum. Which would be tricky, but the endless flame wars and silly comparisons were such a waste of everyone's time in CG.
Without dwelling on this too much yet, I think that the software specific questions belong in software specific forums. If we already had a common language for computational design, you'd just need to add the right description as a meta-tag to any Dynamo or Grasshopper forum post, and you'd be able to find analogous solutions in either forum effortlessly, right?
The Dynamo and Grasshopper forums lack design-centric content. The emphasis is generally on the tools and workflow. Computational design is hybrid in essence, it involves both design and computer programming (be it visual or textual). We could really use a forum for knowledge exchange where the expectation is that both are discussed with equal status.
I disagree that such a forum ought to exclude professional programmers. It should include professional programmers whom have an interest in design, and also include professional designers whom have an interest in computer programming, and everyone in between, and enthusiasts, and artists whom are curious about algorithms as a creative medium, and academics, and students, and etc etc. As long as there is rich content and activity on design as well, not only the computational bit, then the crowd will be diverse and we'll all have more to learn from one another.…
t ''Morph'' turns Red saying ''Cannot morph from a degenerate box'' (image 2),
that's because every curve generates a box (image 3).
After what i check the Option ''Union'' box to make only one box for all the curves (image 4).
However, the result is aleatory and not accurate at all ... :/ (see image 6).I know you are developing Pufferfish and not ''Morph'' component, but recently you publish on instagram a video where i believe you could morph and Twist with success a collection of curves (please see image 7 and 8)...If you could give me a hint how that can be achieved, it would be awesome.(Piping/Meshing the curves with very small diameter will perhaps work and help for visualisation purposes, but i actually just need morphing Raw curves for fabrication purposes).Hope to read you very soon...Ghali,…

HiIf you are encountering a problem with rhino 6 versions don't worryFollow these steps.1. Download SYNTACTIC from https://sites.google.com/site/pirouznourian/syntactic-design2. Install it and go to the installation folder, Drag & drop SYNTACTIC(green one) over your grasshopper canvas.3. Close your rhino and reopen it. 4. Type GrasshopperDeveloperSettings5. Tick the Memory load *.GHA assemblies using COFF byte arrays option6. Run grasshopper and enjoy plugin
I hope this helps,
Best regards,
Pirouz

We are posting a few experiments, created with the work-in-progress RABBIT 0.2. We plan to release it within a week or two…
RABBIT 0.2 has a lot of new features:…

unique properties (color, UV map, vertex normal) the vertex is duplicated. So if you weld a mesh using the weld command with an angle tolerance of more than 90 degrees you're left with a box with 6 faces and 8 vertices.
It's quite a common way to describe meshes, Also the way your graphics card consumes meshes, so there's little CPU processing needed to process the meshes and feed them to the graphics card. If it's hard drive space you're worried about, there may be some compression possible. Apart from primitives, I don't know a geometry that do not represent a box by having four faces (including maya's polygons).
A mesh is considered closed when there are no naked edges. So for boxes this does not return false. I assume that internally spatial queries are used (or perhaps a check if the vertices are exactly the same)(see https://github.com/mcneel/rhinocommon/blob/master/dotnet/opennurbs/opennurbs_mesh.c )
Conclusion: If you want faces to show as having a (semi) creased edge, you'll have a vertex direction for each vertex.
However, if your goal is to make gears, I'd skip the whole part of creating meshes, and leverage Breps and extrusions to create the geometry, or using Extrusion (the geometry) might be a solution to create lightweight geometry, and forget about creating meshes yourself.

ed. This image shows the problem:
If this is not what you are seeing on your own machine when you hook up your HBZones to a panel, then you have not uploaded the right Rhino and Grasshopper file.
2) You have not run your HBZones through an EnergyPlus simulation. You need to do this in order to get data with which to construct the indoor temperature map. I would strongly recommend following along through the first 8 videos of this tutorial series before trying to construct an indoor radiant temperature map of your own project (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLruLh1AdY-SgW4uDtNSMLeiUmA8YXEHT_)
3) You are using components from the last stable release, which is fine but you should know that there has been a lot of development on the indoor temperature map workflow in the last 20 days (there is now a much cleaner workflow that integrates the air and radiant temperature with comfort alanyses now on the github). If you imagine using this workflow frequently, I would recommend updating with the Ladybug_Update Ladybug and Hopneybee_Update Honeybee components. See the attached recent file for how the workflow is currently structured.

I found this two good laptops!

Looking at the price, I would buy the second one…but I would ask you one thing....Considering that using Grasshopper I will create really complex works, using a GeForce instead a Quadro processor could it be a problem??…
