ace when I start running Galapagos/Octopus (below is "room orientation optimization" shared at http://hydrashare.github.io/hydra/viewer?owner=mostaphaRoudsari&fork=hydra_1&id=Room_Orientation_Optimization&slide=0&scale=1&offset=0,0) It may take quite some time to see some results. That's fine for the above simulation. But my real challenge is, when I am going to optimize room dimension with respect to ASE and sDA calculations, either Galapagos or Octopus goes wildly and never come up with a solution. I believe the time-consuming calculation, especially sDA with higher -ab numbers, trigger the lag a lot? Any suggestion/trick to improve it?
Most importantly, based on your experience, for example to optimize window/exterior shades sizes and achieve ASE<10% and sDA>55% (LEED v.4 requirements), Octopus (due to its capacity of multiple objectives) is the only choice? Any other approaches within grasshopper?
Many thank!

ating to new speakers.

Adding new speakers for your automobile could improve the sound quality dramatically. Some sound technicians say it is the number-one update you may make to improve the overall quality of your vehicle.
"They do not care how it sounds. Speakers are often form of continue on the list. Updating to new speakers offers you a much fuller sound."
There is a whole lot to pick from in regards to car speakers. (Photo from Eldon Lindsay)
"New speakers will make a greater fidelity and clarity of sound," states Robert Nevitt, proprietor of Audio Electronics at Indianapolis. "The audio is more different without distortion. People will not get bored listening to it."
Cook says customers need to pick the type of sound they enjoy. The very first thing Cook does having a customer is sit in the car together to talk about their personal taste.
"Everybody's ear is different," he states. "That which I believe sounds great, you might believe is dreadful. It is a fantastic idea to get outside and listen to everything you enjoy and do not like about doing it."
When you've discovered a sound you want, you are going to discover the sky's actually the limitation in regards to purchasing car speakers. There are scores of manufactures and models, sizes and power levels to select from.
Columbus Car Audio & Accessories offers three types of automobile speakers to pick from: complete array speakers, component speakers along with coaxial speakers.
• Total range speakers arrive with a tweeter to make to your high-pitched sounds along with a woofer for those lows. This option offers a number of different sizes.
• Unit speakers, nonetheless, include separate tweeters and woofers.
• Coaxial speakers arrive with a tweeter plus motorist.
When you've selected a type of automobile speaker, you are going to want to determine how many you desire. Cook states some cars arrive with as little as just two speakers, whereas bigger, luxury vehicles might have too many 32. He adds a normal sedan generally has four. What are The Speaker Sizes in My Car | Speaker Size for My Car
"It simply depends if you would like to replace all of these," Cook says. "I would advise doing all of four. If you are budget-minded, I'd begin with the ones at the front. That is where you are at. And you are likely to be at the automobile 100 percent of their moment."
Subwoofers are designed to reproduce low bass frequencies also may be included with new speakers or could be added separately to existing car speakers.
"Many speakers can not play down low in these frequencies such as a subwoofer may," Cook says.

Wondering about speakers? Below are a few techniques to establish a home entertainment experience whatever your budget.
A speaker update might charge as little as $100 up to a few million dollars depending on the scope of job and type of speaker.
Cook states that the price of a subwoofer can operate as low as $37. Columbus Car Audio & Accessories sells a subewoofer bundle that includes an amplifier and a enclosure for about $ 299.
To get a set of automobile speakers, Columbus Car Audio & Accessories begin prices at $39, with an average price tag of about $70 for setup. Adding an anti-vibrator into a set of speakers prices an additional $25.
Nevitt, meanwhile, fees as little as $99 to get a set of "some good speakers." The price of one hour of installion, that is typically how long it takes to put in a set of speakers, is 67.
However, most customers spend far more.
"Paying a total amount of 800 to $1000 isn't from this world of possibility," Nevitt states. "A price somewhere in the center could be $400 or $500."
Cook says several vehicle speaker technicians began with DIY projects and adds there is nothing wrong with trying to set up car speakers all on your own. But you are going to want the correct tools for your job along with just a little understand. Installing speakers requires carrying out your car door.

Choosing a professional to set up speakers ensures that the job is done correctly.
"If you do it yourself, then you might wind up breaking something. That is some thing we do everyday. I am not planning to inform you we will not violate something. But we will look after it if we perform. We all do so with being honest and up front with people."
If you are getting speakers set up, experts say to expect to place an appointment to the setup. …
ructural member. It can only be used as a Veneer / Cladding. You may observe from my sketch that structural member is only a timber frame. Hence we do not need to have a valid bond as long as the brick veneer is tied together with each other and to the timber structural frame behind.
Nevertheless, though i understood the components used in the definition, i only partially understood the logic behind your definition i.e. only until 'Divide Dist' and Extracting the points. After that I did not understand the logic behind using
a) Extracting 40 random values and than using those values as input for Seed to extract another set of 40 random values.
b) Extracting list length, subtracting with random values created in (a) above and then dividing with number 3.
c) Duplicating the Datas
d) The most perplexing is using above logic (a,b,c) to to extract number of branches (number-40) by using Tree Statistics. If number 40 is the input we required for 3rd Random component Why couldn't we connect the List Lenght to Pramviewer and extract the number of branches (40) and connect the output to the Random Component?
e) Finally i did understand the logic behind creating 2 Vector to create the bricks. But i did not understand the addition following the vector.
f) Why do you use the function 'simplify'? - what does it do? I know it simplifies the data tree, but what does simplifying a a data tree do to the entire definition?
Hannes, i know this is quite comprehensive list of doubt, but your help is and will be always appreciated.
Cheers

ns. but first allow me to explain what i'm trying to do: i have a serial device i want to talk to, but i have to do it using some sort of handshaking. for instance, when i send a command/data, i need to wait for an appropriate response before sending another. i have used andy payne's general serial components from firefly, but i don't think they'll work for what i want to do, and in general, i want to know how to do this from scratch. i'm using the pyserial library to do the comm, and i can get it to work within one script. here's an example of a working (mostly) port open/close script (x=input param for baud, y=input param for port name, z=boolean input param for open/close):
import serialmyPort=serial.Serial()myPort.baudrate = xmyPort.port = yif z == True: try: myPort.open() except: print "Something went wrong. Cannot open port." if myPort.isOpen() == True: print myPort.name + " is open" if z != True: try: myPort.close() except: print "Something went wrong. Cannot close port." if myPort.isOpen != True: print myPort.name + " is closed"
this all works well and good. here are my questions:
1) I can open the port and then close it. however, if i try to re-open it, i get an access denied error. it seems rhino is holding the port open, as i have to re-start rhino to get it working again. i read through the discussions and didn't see any definitive answers to this problem. any advice?
2) I'd like to share this port with other components (or at least break up the functions of opening/closing the port and read/write, not unlike how the firefly components are organized), but i have no idea how to share an object instance between components. i did see that there is a sticky dict and tried to add myPort to it, but i kept getting errors in the other component when i try to use the object's methods. for instance:
Component 1 Script:
import serial
import scriptcontext
myPort=serial.Serial("COM4", 9600)
scriptcontext.sticky['myPort']=myPort
Component 2 Script:
import serial
import scriptcontext
myPort=scriptcontext.sticky['myPort']
print myPort.read()
but i get messages like:
Runtime error (MissingMemberException): 'Serial' object has no attribute '_port_handle'
any assistance would be greatly appreciated!!
best,

Gone are the days of faking a user interface by laying out sliders and text panels and hiding wires on the Grasshopper canvas. Human UI interfaces are entirely separate from the Grasshopper canvas and leverage the power of Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF), a graphical subsystem for rendering user interfaces in the Windows environment.
OLD NEW
In other words: Human UI makes your GH definition feel like a Windows app. Create tabbed views, dynamic sliders, pulldown menus, checkboxes, and even 3D viewports and web browsers that look great and make sense to anyone--including designers and clients with no understanding of Grasshopper.
Human UI has been in development at NBBJ for over a year, as part of a larger NBBJ Design Computation initiative to deliver our tools internally as Products -- with fully automated installation, managed dependencies, analytics, documentation, and “magical” user experience. Human UI has been a huge component of the user experience part of this puzzle, and we are excited to share it with the larger Grasshopper community so that others can benefit from it and contribute to its development.
The initial release of Human UI is accompanied by a few simple examples to get you started, but we have developed sophisticated user interfaces with these tools at NBBJ and will slowly be rolling out more advanced examples. We also look forward to opening up the development to the community and seeing what new features and paradigms we can add.

eaningful. Humans must interact with it. Information arises when humans examine the data. Knowledge is created when information is transformed through human social interactions.”
Richard Gayle via spacecollective
The space in which we live can be monitored in many aspects and appears to be to be a gradient of data in continuous evolution and change. One of the major advantages of parametric tools is to be able to inform the design processes with accurate, specific and variable, in space and time, data streams .
DATA BODIES is a Grasshopper workshop that will focus on how its nature as an information processor and how it can be (ab)used in order to manipulate data, streaming inputs from various sources and use datafeeds to inform geometry or data structures from the very simple up to more complex ones. The aim is to give an understanding of information and data articultion as already a spatial and architectural operation; results may range from pure data communication protocols, dataviz or data-driven geometries depending on the skill levels and aspirations of each participant. The brief is also open to the suggestions and opportunities that may rise during the workflow.

Previously, I had a problem with generating intersections between the two directions of the beams, but a colleague helped me by extending beams, so there was no problem with lines of intersection. But this solution has generated curl (5) at the highest vertex geometry, which I ignored in order to repair it before printing, perhaps this mean my problem with my beam spread properly. Only when the beams is 19, does not jump no problem, but I still can not distribute them properly.

them can be addressed before winter.
Bugs:
. Vector preview is great, but it doesn't refresh (clear) when you disconnect components. You must delete the component or reconnect to refresh the vector previews.
. When passing values through a note pad, note pad fails to update continuously. Moving the notepad updates the display.
. Cannot pass a notepad integer into an fx1
. Point preview in RH5 appears as large red blocks, not as red crosses. (This is an old bug, may have been fixed with RH5 update in the meantime.)
. After adjusting Graph in dialog box, graph appears to be a solid grey object until moved.
. After copying and pasting, a lot of components are broken, return nulls. Requires reconnect to recompute (haven't had this problem in a while, will see if I can find a file that recreates it)
. BIG ONE: Loading a graph mapper with a file not found creates broken file... graph mapper disappears off canvas and the output wire appears turns orange and appears to be coming from the 0,0 pixel of the canvas. This happens any time you try to port a .ghx file to another system with different drive letters/paths, etc.
Wish list:
Mass addition for vectors
Interactive domain control for Image Sampler (like with Gradient Mapper)
Allow Addition Component to handle String values (A + B = AB)
BIG ONE: Request Override for Icon display for Parameters, Wireless receiver, and script components if you change the name
BIG ONE: Add new behavior for Stream Filter and Stream Gate: Allow multiple index numbers. The Index number picks the value/object in the corresponding index position in the selected list.
For instance:
List 0: A, B, C, D, E
List 1: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
List 2: .1, .2, .3, .4, .5
Index Stream: 0, 2, 2, 1, 1, 2, 1, 0, 1
Results: A, .2, .3, 4, 5 (This is new behaviour and more useful than Weaving)
I have attached a GHX that includes VB components that do this, but it would be better to have GH components with I/O manager options and data matching behavior, etc.
