I dont get any error messages in either LB or HB. HB says it has all libraries in its text output.I'm using a vanilla install of Win 10 with standard win firewall unaltered. I have a feeling it has something to do with files not downloading all the same.c:/Ladybug does not exist.
Picture shows contents of roaming/ladybug folder. is something missing?
This is what i've done so far:
Followed all the steps on the install instructions.Uninstalled and installed it again running in administrator mode.
Tried to get files from this thread, but links are broken to download those outdated files. I think I remember I usually have to do this when i do HB installs on new OS...I have not installed open studio, only energy+…

I am no expert in this field; I would have to do research just like you. Maybe someone else on this forum has already done more work in this area, let's see. Or it might be you, the first one :)

You want to start with a proper mesh reparametrization:

Once you have your mesh reparametrized it's relatively easy to divide it into surfaces. That is the easiest approach but it doesn't take into account any features(creases etc)...

Got a brief look at the Geomagic thingy... seems like it's a subd modeler (like tsplines). Creating nurbs out of subd meshes is easy cause you can basically trace back the subdivision. (the point is that subd meshes to nurbs are not as much challenging as mesh to nurbs).…

Here's my first thoughts:
Again, as some other cases, iterative process.
(Conway's game of life, a cellular_automata-like process (?)... Install anemone.)
I would create 3 grids:
1 - grid of 100 values, cell's center points
these values can have more integer values like 0=free 1=occuped
2 - grid of 81 values, grid vertex points (excludig perimeter)
these values are where the center of 2x2 cells could be. 0=possible location 1=not possible location
3 - "grid" of 180 values, grid segment center, where 1x2 center could be
again 0 and 1
Then it's needed a "topology" between those 3 grids:
At each iteration those values updates each other by basing on placed cells and adjacent values.
At each iteration a new cell (random from A or B) is placed in a random possible location.
This is just my madness, and maybe I'm already far away from a result.
For sure a fasterst, simpler, smarter solution exists.…
rsity building with 81 thermal zones. I wanted to use this model on my master thesis, but I am afraid I won't be able. So I would really appreciate some help.
The purpose was to set different insulation thicknesses and glazing types depending on the orientation. Therefore I created every zone by using "createHBsrfs" components. At the same time different zones would have different "building programs".
I created all the zones, I added windows as "child surfaces" for every zone. And I created the adjacencies. No errors or whatsoever.
But from this point I cannot connect the model to any other component without GH being frozen. So although the model is correct maybe it is to heavy for the software, however I am not sure if that is the reason.
Is it stupid what I have done? Is there any easier way to accomplish my purpose?
Any thought or help will be much appreciated.

I've found getting really good handling of static vs kinetic friction to be a pain though.
Distinguishing between collisions and resting contact generally becomes more complicated than it might first appear.
If the collision with the mesh or ground is 'hard' I project the particle positions, so they can never penetrate, and reverse the component of their velocity normal to the surface (multiplied by the restitution factor). This means that whenever you have some structure of springs resting on a hard surface, there is usually still some tiny imperceptible bouncing. This makes it hard to properly apply static friction (which would zero the tangential velocity if the tangential force was below some threshold and it is not already sliding), because particles are generally not perfectly on the surface, even when apparently at rest. Obviously it's not good to have friction affecting things that aren't touching the surface.
This is the origin of the 'settle' parameter in the settings. The idea was that when the motion of a particle normal to the surface drops below that limit, it will be totally zeroed, and the particle becomes properly resting on the surface. I never really like having to use these kind of weird ad hoc fixes though.
Alternatively, if the collision is 'soft' I use a spring-like force to push particles out of the ground/mesh.
This can cause problems because in many cases you just want a simple constraint that they never go below ground level, and there is a limit to how stiff you can make these spring-like forces.
The advantage though, is that because any particle resting 'on' the ground/surface will actually be slightly below/inside it, and one can use this to decide whether to apply contact friction.
With bouncing collisions, it is a little simpler. There is just the question of what to do with the velocity component tangential to the surface. See the bottom comment by me here, for more on the 'tumble' setting:

So you see, it is challenging to get one consistent model that will give correct behaviour for all cases (eg a simple static 'leaning ladder' type problem, a bouncing particle, and vehicle wheel traction), without having several of these odd seeming and non-intuitive settings.
