Hi Andrew , I'm very interested in the add-on you designed . I can't download it for cc 2015 , maybe it has expired download link. Could you update ? Thank you.

nardo - what version of illustrator are you using? it is possible that the COM IDs are specific to english-language installed version of the app, I am not sure.
I'll keep playing with it and see if i can figure anything out.

In response to the COM errors, I Just ran into that issue today. I am using a virtualized version of Illustrator. I installed a trial version of illustrator on my local machine and the tool worked correctly, no COM error. Installing the trial version also made the Adobe Illustrator Type Libraries available in visual studio, which was previously missing.
So it appears that in order for this tool to work, you need a local installation of Illustrator on your C: drive.
Excited to try my hand at Doodlebug! Right out of the gate though I'm getting an error in Grasshopper on the Open Illustrator Component: "1. Solution exception:Could not load file or assembly 'IllustratorInterop, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."
Is this a sort of bridge/key component that opens the door to Illustrator to work? If not, is it possible to access an Illustrator document directly from the File Path location?
Let me know if we can get this straightened out when you get a few minutes.
Hi Tim, I ran into that issue myself. I found I needed to place the Doodlebug.gha and IllustratorInterop.dll files inside a new 'Doodlebug' folder within the grasshopper Components folder.
Thanks for your feedback. The issue was not the folder structure but instead, I had to Unblock the .zip folder prior to extracting the files. (Doodlebug_CC2015 > Right Click > Properties > Unblock.) Then extract and copy both the .dll and .gha files into your Grasshopper 'Components' folder.
Hope that helps any future people that run into the same issue.
Ok so I got things working on my work computer. Coming home, giddy as a june bug to try a few things out, I ran into another error on attempting to run the 'OpenIllustrator' component:
1. Solution exception:Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {B0D0A647-983E-485B-9A69-45F0382F0D9C} failed due to the following error: 80040154 Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)).
Note the previous comment I did the Unblock with Doodlebug CC 2014 and it worked on Windows 7. At home here I am running Doodlebug CC 2015 with Illustrator v. 2015.3.1 release on Windows 10.
Shot in the dark: maybe needs a namespace declaration to work with Windows 10?
I got the same issue to open illustrator with Doodlebug. I use windows 10 with CC 2015.3.1. Did anyone figured out a way to make it work on windows 10?
What is the ideal workflow? Should i open rhino first then Illustrator manually or should grasshoper open the illustrator itself?
In both ways it gives me an error "1. Solution exception:Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to interface type 'Illustrator.Application'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{95CD20AA-AD72-11D3-B086-0010A4F5C335}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE))"
Wanted to try out your plugin, but there seems to be something wrong with the dropbox or is it just me? I can't log in (the fields are auto-filled in as always, but nothing happens when I press log in) and your download page is blank like nothing is on it and the download doesn't start. I'm not using dropbox that much, not sure if they changed their policy or is it a bug?
I am wondering if anyone can direct me where to install the .dll file? I've tried in the windows system folder and the program folders for illustrator but am having no luck in establishing the connection.
Thanks for putting this plugin together- I'm super excited about the potential. This is the error message I see with the open illustrator component: 1. Solution exception:Could not load file or assembly 'IllustratorInterop, Version=1.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified.
I'm wondering if this is related to the COM library issue that many others have been experiencing? I'm running the latest version of CC (2017) and the latest version of Rhino, but not WIP. Will this plugin essentially have to be rewritten every-time illustrator is updated? I look forward to using it. Thanks for you help!
Hi Kyle - Illustrator 2017 is not supported. I can only build the plug-in against the copy of illustrator I currently have - and I do not have 2017. The plug-in is open source should anyone wish to attempt to build it on their own system against their own version of illustrator.

Hey Andrew, thanks for the plugin! One quick question: can you link views other than "Top?" Say Perspective, Front, Right?
Grasshopper 1.0 has a Make2D component which would make perspective drawings much easier with doodlebug.
