Wrong plugin I'm afraid, you're looking at RhinoBIM and will have to contact them.

  • first1

o,why  this icons are red ?

  • Jon Mirtschin

Try updating the IFC plugin fromhttp://www.geometrygym.com/downloads as I fixed a cause of this problem yesterday.  A work around is to save, close and reopen the grasshopper model.

If you want to start a discussion thread within this group it might be better where we can add attachments etc.

    Hi Jon,

I have intalled and licensed your IFC plugin. But when I open your examples, all the icons are still red. They show similar message like this:I'm using rhinoSR9 and grasshopper 8.0066.Could you tell me what does this mean?

    many thanks!

  • claudemit

    Hi Jon,

I read your reply to someone's problem similar to mine.It seems to be solved...

Thank you for going to the trouble.

  • Jan Kozerski

I have that same problem as @first1 any idea how to solve this? ( i have newest grasshopper 8.0066 , IFC plugin etc )

  • Jon Mirtschin

Run Rhino command GrasshopperDeveloperSettings and untick COFF loading.  Restart Rhino.  Let me know if this doesn't resolve the problem.

  • Jan Kozerski

    Now works thanks !

  • Jan Kozerski

Hi i have question about any tutorials or help with making columns or generic model ( fancy forms from Rhino ) to simply importing them to Revit ? Slabs are in you definitions and this work perfectly now. Thanks for any help !

  • Jon Mirtschin

More examples are coming, I'm setting up some new components to permit a more "family" based approach that will more consistent with Revit.  If you want to post/email any models in the mean time I'm happy to help.

  • Jon Mirtschin

What is the error message?  Try running rhino command grasshopperdevelopersettings and unticking COFF loading.  Restart Rhino and see if it fixes the errors.

    Hey Jon,

My other problem has been solved. Now I have another question, I want to know how I can change the ssiLP from Dead load to snow or live load? I cannot modify this comportment !

Also how I can check the Buckling(P)?

    Thanks a lot..

  • Jon Mirtschin

Hi,  Glad to hear you solved your problem.  Have you found to filter the blog for posts specific to SAP using the tag cloud?  http://geometrygym.blogspot.com/search/label/SAP2000

If you right click on the Type input for the load pattern, you'll see a context menu as per this image.  You can run non-linear analysis from GH, I'll look into a buckling option but you'll need to do it manually having baked the model to SAP.  Member design is another I meant to have enabled by now.  Cheers,  Jon

  • M NICK

Thanks a lot Jon for a quick answer. Could you please tell me why the ssiS component is red? And How I can find the axial stress in the elements?

When I bake the structure, The SAP doesn't show anything! Do you know why?

    Simple%20case%20for%20SAP.3dm

    first%20def_%20for%20simple%20case_%20SAP.gh

    Thanks a lot!!!

    Hey Jon,

I've a question about the GSA link settings in Grasshopper. How can I define the link settings in the SSI plug-in? I want to set the link on only tension but can't find a way to do this.

    Thanks in advance,

  • Jon Mirtschin

Congratulations on being the 1000th member, it's a milestone I'm very thrilled to achieve and hope reflects on the benefits users are getting from my developments for Grasshopper.

  • Matthew McFetridge

Hi Jon, I am wondering what value I need to put into the RHS component to create the fillet? I have tried 0.1 to 1 and up to 90 with an expression to turn it into radians. Everytime the corners have remained at right angles. What vaule would you recomend? Or have I got something wrong?

    Thanks
    Matt

  • Jon Mirtschin

    Hi Matt,

I've put my response to your question into this discussion thread:

  • Jesper Thøger Christensen

How to apply a lineload ?
I suppose one should use ggCUDL.

But when i export to Robot the load vector is zero.

    What to do?

  • Michel Cassagnes

    Hi everybody,

I try to use the ggRobotSolver to get the results directly within Grasshopper. The ggQueryNodeDisp gives a runtime error (see image).

Did someone already use this feature ?

Jon, could you explain how to proceed or send an example ?

    Thanks!

  • Michel Cassagnes

    Hi,

I found the problem : i did'nt feed the N input of  ggQueryNodeDisp with correct data : N must be a ggNode output. But I get no results from ggS !

  • Jon Mirtschin

Can you test if this example is working?

    http://geometrygym.blogspot.com/2011/03/galapagas-and-gsa-solver.html

Can you post your model to http://www.grasshopper3d.com/group/geometrygym/forum/topics/autodes... (a good idea to collate the discussion there) or let me know if it's one of my examples?

  • Michel Cassagnes

    Hello Jon,

Your example works. My model works now also but doesn't give any result. It takes a long time (relatively) to export and to get results (probably related to the numbers of elements to export, calculation itself is very fast in Robot).

I posted my model to the link given in your message.

  • pipi

Deat jon,i just learn a little about you plug in,and very interested, now i need you licence and some examples.
    Thanks o lot!

  • Carrey

ssIFCSS does not work, when space curves import or the result is not i wanted.

  • Carrey

    Hi,

there are some wrong about this

    test.3dm

    test.gh

  • Carrey

    Hi,

There are some problems. Need help! The close curve extended is not the solid.test2.gh

  • Jon Mirtschin

    test.gh

Your first example there is 2 sectioned spine components.  The other one produces a better result.  Refer attached.

For the second file, you are using the "Surface" component, if you use Extruded area solid you will get the caps.

    test2.gh

I think it's better to put the questions into a discussion thread.

  • Mehdi Hasanzadeh Samadi

jon,is there a way to export revit files to IFC4?

  • Jon Mirtschin

    Hi Mehdi,

Not directly yet.  Most software companies are saying it will take them a year or two to implement IFC4.  What do you want to import IFC4 into?  I could provide a converter (but it won't necessarily take advantage of the improvements).

I am planning on developing my own exporter for Revit, but it's a low priority (most of the workflows at present are GH/?? into Revit.

    Cheers,  Jon

  • Mehdi Hasanzadeh Samadi

so what type of IFC file work with plug-in ? 2*3 and 2*2 doesn't work fine

  • Jon Mirtschin

My plugin can use IFC2x3 and IFC4.  Many software generates "bloated" IFC files for "coordination" with polysurface representations (like a mesh) that Rhino isn't optimized for.  Can you post example file and description to this discussion (or email/skype me)? http://www.grasshopper3d.com/group/geometrygym/forum/topics/ifc-ind...

  • Mehdi Hasanzadeh Samadi

jon i export rac_basic_sample_project.rvt ( one of sample project) to IFC2x3 and i saw this

  • Jon Mirtschin

Can you please email me the IFC file you created?

  • Mehdi Hasanzadeh Samadi

what's up about a problem i mentioned ,jon?

  • Michelle Frantellizzi

    Hey Jon,

I was trying to take a look at the Waffle Example from your blog under the

GH to Archicad (OpenBIM IFC) Section

And I got a missing plugin error when i tried to open it. It said that it was sdrConvCurve. If you could let me know what I am missing that would be great. Thank you!

  • Jon Mirtschin

    Hi Michelle,

Bullant was previously known as "StructDrawRhino" (SDR).  If you install it from http://www.geometrygym.com/downloads it should fix the error.

  • Michelle Frantellizzi

    Thank you.

  • Jonathan Lynn

    Hey Jon

Im having a slight problem while playing with the Tesselation tool. when the size of tessellation is over about 3500 a object reference not set error occurs. The target brep is an untrimmed surface measuring 15000 by 100000 (mm) and the tessellation type is weaire phelan. Ive tried a fex different breps and all fail to create the tesselation. Any ideas on how to set up for larger tesselations.

    Thank you.

  • Yuke

Hi, Jon, I am a student learning grasshopper recently. Now I am trying to download the Geometry Gym but it asks me to email the administrator. Could you help me?

  • Jon Mirtschin

    Hi Yuke,

If you send the email, I'll validate the license file (I work full time on the development and support of the tools, so a licensing system is in place).

Jonathan, can you email me with a sample model so I can take a look at this?  It might be document tolerance coming into play.

    Hi There,

Does anybody know that how I can have geodesic dome? I used StrucDrawRhino but it always gives me the sphere and if i cut it from middle of the sphere (to get dome) all of my hexagons in the middle will split randomly and they don't have the specific size . I want to have exact geodesic DOME (not sphere) with the exact same size of hexagons. I want to 3d print it and I really do not want to have many different sizes of hexagon . I want minimize the variation by using one type of hexagon and one type of pentagon or just one hexagon or 2 different types of hexagon. I am attaching the sphere and dome image to this post. as you can see in the image in the dome one the hexagons are cut randomly. I am wondering if there is a way that the hexagon can start exactly from the bottom of the dome.

I really need it for my school project and I will appreciate  quick responses.

    Thanks
