Guid from Brep to Surface

I encountered a problem that when I converted a Referenced Brep (which is originally a Surface) into a Surface, the Guid of the Brep got lost (as show in the image below).

Is this normal or should it not loose this information?

    This is not a bug. Converting a Brep to a Surface disassociates it from the original rhino object. Any conversion has this effect.

    Why not just reference the object as a Surface to begin with?
