goat

goat is an optimization solver add-on component. It perfectly complements galapagos, David Rutten's evolutionary solver based on a randomized core. goat pursues a mathematical rigorous approach and relies on gradient-free optimization algorithms, delivering fast and deterministic results. At every run, goat will yield the same optimal result.

goat is a drop-in replacement for galapagos. It is based on David Rutten's galapagos GUI and interfaces NLopt, a collection of mathematical optimization libraries.

goat 2.0 - an optimization solver component

We are happy to announce version 2.0 of our fast and versatile optimization component goat. Grab yourself a copy from

http://www.rechenraum.com/goat/download.html

With this release, goat is a Rhino 5 (Grasshopper 0.9.0014 or later) component only. Previous versions of goat for legacy Rhino and Grasshopper are available through above download link.

Besides this shift towards Rhino 5, this release features

  • One-time validation through activation code instead of providing an email address at every download.
  • Improved error handling in case of invalid objective connections
  • Internal code cleanups and renamings for better error reporting
  • More robust detection of installation folder

We hope you are enjoying this release as much as we do,

    Thanks you simon,

It is true that using goat is more convenient to search for a single value.
By cons when research spans multiple values goat is more limited.

Have you ever thought that, and offer several possible values?

How did you develop components that fits grasshopper?

    Hi,

is there the option to use GeneLists now?

    Thanks,
