Call for participants—study designers’ behavior in a parametric design environment

A research aim to study designers’ behavior in a parametric design environment is conducting at university of Newcastle. The study will help us to better understand how parametric design tools inspire or restrict designers’ way of thinking. Here are some publications from this study: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ofkbd31uyep8gtr/p7W4UAAgH3

For detail please visit  http://parametricdesignstudy.weebly.com/index.html
The requirements of the participants:
1 Architecture background
2 Has no less than two years’ experience of using Rhino and Grasshopper
The experiment will take 90 mins to do a design experiment. Mark Burry's new book "scripting culture" is provided to the participants as "thank you" gift.
If you would like to participate, please email the researcher: rongrong.yu@uon.edu.au
(If you are in Sydney or Newcastle, the researcher can go to your place to conduct the experiment. If not, you can do it at home by yourself just following the experiment procedure--email us and we will send you the instruction)

  • Nick Tyrer

quick question. What kind of 'design task' would it be. Or does that ruin the experiment if you tell us?

  • Rongrong Yu

Thanks for your attention, it is a concept design for a building, Rhino site model will be provided and there are some functional requirements. if you are interested in participating, email by: rongrong.yu@uon.edu.au, I will send the design brief to you.
