best platforms for kinetic sculpture

I'm planning another kinetic installation involving sensors and objects driven by steppers. Is the arduino, firefly, grasshopper the way to go for a non programmer like myself. What about Max and maxuino?

    It depends on what you want to do. But, I would go with MAX there are a lot more resources out there that exist with it. Also it is much more sophisticated then gh in regard to looping, and time.
