I have just posted some more videos and description of Kangaroo - the live physics engine I am developing - on my blog here:

Thanks for all the great feedback on the last post, any more thoughts and ideas would be very welcome.
Wow, this is great! I would be very interested in testing Kangaroo. I think this will dramatically change how membrane roofs are designed. Is it possible to modify material properties? Thanks for giving us a preview. Wieland
Wieland - what kind of material properties would you want to be able to change ?
Things like Stiffness, Mass, and Natural Lengths are adjustable now, so stuff like stiffer edge cables for membranes are possible. I could also try treating shear and stretch separately for fabrics.
Anything else ?
And Tuan - yeah, I think Evolution + Physics could = something very exciting indeed.
Daniel - Yes, material stiffness would be the most important to use Kangaroo as a form finder for membranes roofs for example. Great would be also if force density, membrane stresses and cable loads could be made visible. Can you apply surface loads to simulate snow and wind loads?
Congratulations Daniel !
I see it both as a design tool, and as a reminder about the laws of physics.
Many designs I see on this site seem to ignore them totally :)
