Grasshopper > AutoCAD Open Source Plug-In

I have released an open source plug-in which allows Grasshopper to send commands directly to AutoCAD using COM.  I have tested this on my machine running AutoCAD 2011 64-bit on Windows 7.

I have released the source code so hopefully the bones can be used for different purposes and software versions.

If you develop a cool use for this, let me know!  I would love to feature it.

Enjoy!

The plug-in and source code are available at the Slingshot! development website...

    Dear Nathan:

Thanks for your post, i just downloaded the files.

I copied the assembly file on the grasshopper folder, as any other add on

    But what about source code?

    How are those files installed?

    I cannot make it work

    Thanks again

    Best

    Mario,

The source code is a Visual Studio 2010 project folder.  You will need Visual Studio Pro or Express to open the files and modify the plug-in code.

    Nathan.

Sorry for the ignorance, never used Visual Studio.

I have attached an image of what i am getting right now.

Do I have to execute something in Visual Studio, install a file or something?

    Mario,

It looks as though you are using AutoCAD 2010.  I have only tested the plug-in on machines with AutoCAD 2011.  The message you are getting means that the plug-in cannot find the proper version of a reference assembly.  In Visual Studio, you may need to reference your AutoCAD 2010 Type Library (the current plug-in was built with references to the 2011 assembly).  After doing this, you will need to "Build" the plug-in for use with your older version of AutoCAD.

    Thanks for the explanation Nathan.
