New plug-ins for GH. (first release)

horsterReference tools make it easy to reference objects by type, layer and other attributes from Rhino to Grasshopper.

for now it consists of four components:

  • Reference by layer - gets the Guids of objects that are on specified layer.
  • Reference by type - gets the Guids of object of specified type.
  • Reference by attributes - allows the user to filter the objects in Rhino document depending on their name, type, layer and color
  • Read text objects - references all dots and annotation from Rhino document into Grasshopper. Returns the origin points and the strings.

horster cameraControl tools make it easy to control camera in Rhino viewport via Grasshopper.

for now it consists of three components:

  • getCamera - gets the location, target, lens length and 'up' vector of current viewport camera.
  • setCamera - sets the current viewport camera. (taking as inputs location and target point, lens length (optional) and 'up' vector (optional).
  • animateCamera - allows the user to save series of views directly from Rhino viewport and animate smooth transition between them

horster tools were developed as part of BAD.Research program. this is the first release of the tool: i'll be greatful for any feedback and suggestions.

to install:

  • in Grasshopper, choose File > Special Folders > Components folder. save the gha file there.
  • right-click the file > Properties > make sure there is no "blocked" text
  • restart Rhino and Grasshopper
i recommend starting with example files.

    one question - maybe you can name those addons with different names, as far they are quite different, or integrate all tools into one addon?

    thanks Philipp. yes - that's the idea. i'd like to make a whole set of tools in the future under one name, but maybe you're right - it's better if for now to make them in separate groups. i'll think about it before the next update.
