Freeform Concrete Shelter

The Shelter was initially a thesis project on the manufacturability of advanced freeform architecture in concrete but when presented to the project partners there was no hesitation in the desire to construct the Shelter. Now we are halfway through the project and the Shelter is looking great. The next weeks will show whether our structural assessments were correct and our post-tension system will function as planned.

Grasshopper was used to model the wood interior and make drawings available for CNC milling.

You can follow the project at our homepage, where there is more details on the initial project.

Hello I am getting ready to build free form fabric structures using urethane foam and shotcrete . I would be interested to know what method of construction you are using. This is a dome I just built using the same technique. What are the thickness of the walls and what is the method behind it?
