Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Dear All,

When selecting to have a single window with the glazing creator, the window sill and height options are neglected since the createGlazingQuad function is triggered.

Is there a work around to this?

kind regards,

Mauricio.

P.S. HB & LB rock! I've completely given up on IES and Design Builder.

Mauricio,

Don't understand your question. Can you upload your file?

-A.

Never mind the components on the bottom.

If I select False on the "Break-Up window toggle", the single window is always placed at the center of the surface. I want to be able to control its placement using the "sill_height" and "window_height" options of the component.

You can't do it.

As you can see in the hint of sillHeight:

sillHeight_: An optional number in Rhino model units that sets the distance from the floor to the bottom of your windows on rectangular surfaces when the breakUpWindow_ input above is set to 'True'.

Notice the "WHEN".

I can find the logic of your wish. You can add it in the github.

Yeah, earlier today I tried to solve it with a few lines of code but it started getting messy.

I'll find a clever solution and let you know.

thanks for everything.

Mauricio,

If you want a single window for which you can adjust the sill height and window height, you can just set the 'breakUpDist' to be a very large number that is longer than your wall and leave 'breakUpWindow' set to True:

Trust me when I say that this component has been though so many rounds of revision that it can produce a huge set of variations on typical orthogonal window geometry.  This old github issue may also get your mental gears turning about the other things you can make with the simple parameters of this component:

I really recommend taking a set of sliders with a single HBSrf as input to the component and explore its design space.

Chris,

I've read the github thread and now I have a better understanding on how to use the component, at least in theory hehe.

Thanks for your post. Solution is quite simple once explained.

best,

M
