Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi! I have been trying to use Terrain Generator for a few hours now without results. I replaced all user objects with the last version, read about the API key update, got mine and it still gives me this message. I haven't found this precise one about the "APIkey is incorrect" on the forum, please refer me if it has been solved before.

1. This component requires topography data to be downloaded from opentopography.org as a prerequisite for creating a terrain. It has just failed to do that. Try the following three fixes:

1) '_APIkey' is incorrect:
Go to the following link: https://portal.opentopography.org/lidarAuthorizationInfo
and download the video tutorial on how to obtain a valid APIkey:
https://github.com/stgeorges/gismo/blob/master/resources/tutorials/...

2) Sometimes due to large number of requests, the component fails to download the topography data even if opentopography.org website and their services are up and running.
In this case, wait a couple of seconds and try reruning the component.

3) opentopography.org website could be up and running, but their terrain service (RESTful Web service) may be down (this already happened before).
Try again in a couple of hours.

If each of two mentioned advices fails, open a new topic about this issue on: www.grasshopper3d.com/group/gismo/forum.

Hi Sebastian,
Have you used Gismo's "Terrain Generators" component before? Or is this the first time?

Can you attach your .gh file? But please delete your APIkey.
Thank you.

Hi! I used it years ago, before it requested an APIkey, and I don't recall having any issues. Here's my file

Hi Sebastian,
Thank you for sharing the file.
It works without issue with your location.
I internalized the terrain for that location with 1000m radius:

If you got the API key and still are getting the upper error message, then it means something is preventing Grasshopper from accessing terrain files.
Probably some of your ports is blocked. Or maybe you have Rhino blocked by Windows firewall.
