Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I'm trying to convert a 3D Mesh to a 2D-Paper cutout model using Rhino or grasshopper. There already is existing software that does this (particularly Pepakura). The idea is to rebuild the 3d model using cardboard (with surface treatment) and casting concrete to rebuild the model.

I attached an image which perhaps explains the process more clearly.

What I want to ask is - are there any tools that properly create cut-out patterns as precicely as other software such as Pepakura? Tried unroll and smash but it didn't turn out to be so efficient. Currently, this is done using Meshlab and Pepakura as explained in this example here http://www.instructables.com/id/Create-faceted-paper-objects/
