Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I know this may seem like a relatively simple problem, but I just can't for the life of me figure out how to create zigzag shapes out of a line.

I'd like to be able to control the depth of the V's and the number of V's along the curve.

Hi.

I've only been using grasshopper for a few weeks so, if someone has a better idea feel free to make it known!

Off the top of my head, i would use a number slider to divide the curve into segments, extract points from each segment, use a second number slider to control the offset distance and then apply alternating positive and negative offsets normal to the line at each point.

If you get stuck, let me know and I will try and build a definition for you.

Cheers

A second method which might be easier - all you need to do from here would be to join subsequent points between each line which you can do with list manipulations pretty easily.

You can control the number of zigzags with the division, and control the depth of V's based on the offset curve function.
