algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi ! I wanna to transform one grid in 2D into a 3D grid. Rectangles must become parallelepipoids, and the 2D spline must become also a 3D spline. I already have help to make the 2d Grid, but i have no idea to transform a grid.

Life sucks (a known fact from the other "flat" case of yours, he he).

Added some challenges for you: The only way the hard way IS (Yoda the top dog Jedi)

Hi! thanks for the definition ! for the challenge : "group" is to make a group of detached components, but you ungroup them after i don't understand :/

"clean" is used because the eval doesn't works ? why it doesn't work i don't know^^

"partition is to tidy a list of rectangles ?

What is a "flip" and a "flop" ?

And what is a "native component" ?

Well...

1. If you have a "layer" of items (Say: in terms of a 1 dimension tree) and you want to modify them the group (treat them as "a layer")  and ungroup (restore the tree) is a handy way to do it otherwise you should provide 1:1 vectors (a tree in fact) for the move and/or any other transform.

2. Partition gets a List and makes a tree. Thus further actions (like thicken et all) are far more manageable and easy to understand.

3. Flip/Flop is used in order to achieve  either a "closest is bigger" or "closest is smaller" result. Remap is used ... well ... it's obvious I guess. The gate used redirects the action either to the eval component (x becomes 1/x) or bypass it (thus the component protests accordingly).

4. Native GH components are all these "standard" things available in GH. The one used for thicken at once the BrepFace (of the rectangle as Brep) is a "custom" very simple thingy made with code. Double click on it to see what I mean. Think of it as an "open" (you can modify it if you know the language) component. Standard components are "sealed": the underlying code is not available to you. The challenge for you is to replace that with ... well ... some normal things, he he.

BTW: You should spend some time in order to FULLY understand Trees: without that doing anything in GH would be a pain and/or a frustration.  Most would advise you to do than "on the process": do some definitions and gradually get the gist of trees. I would strongly advise the opposite: first learn to walk, then run.

BTW: Like the freaky balloon case of yours ... doing anything without mastering trees is rather impossible especially with regard connectivity matters (critical in any "modular" design).

I tried to make the rotation... but i cannot make it ... can you help me ?

damn I forgot the native component ... I have to make a code or a "script" ?

What is your script for the color  ? How do we make a script ?

Script? You mean the stupid thingy that gets the Last List item? (forget that: you can do it via components).

Scripts are freaky stuff made via some programming language > girls are NOT made for these > girls don't like freaky things > stay away > one way ticket to Hell > he he

BTW: Get the "rotation" option.

BTW: Do you want something to blow teacher's mind in small pieces ?

You have 3 options:

(a) the case of nightclubs in a post apocalypse (after the 4 horsemen, that is)  Paris.

(b) the case of dancing sardines (in the as above nightclubs).

But i just wanna understand, i must explain to my teacher what i have done :) or can we do that with "native components" as you said, more easy to understand ? :)

please :)

and what is "this" and "that" ? and the filter ? And a "path mapper" ?

sorry to raise such questions :/

best, nastia

This and that (just names: they could be Donald and Trump) are "named" options redirecting flow towards the next components (flow goes from left to right, so to speak). This is done by something called filter. Path mapper is something that gets a tree and alters it in order to best serve some matching criteria (or other).

But since I have a feeling that you don't actually know what a tree is ... well .. hard to see how you could explain to the great man what's going on (Moral: life sucks).

BTW: Teacher hasn't asked for thickening the rectangles ... thus the thing in the black group that does that (think of it as a "bonus") ..er ... hmm ... is ... out of the scope of explanations. If he asks about tell him that it's secret and therefor not for his eyes (life sucks).

BTW: Here's the 1B question for the teacher.

Cones used in the big question are replaced with instance definitions [blocks] of happy men who just got the notorious AG-666-D23-MK2 device of mine [anti gravity]).
