algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hi,,,

i've found the basic LaN shelling components for 3D voronoi structure.

it works perfect.

But when i try to relax it with WB component, the result is far from satisfactory. compared to t-splines's work or some other examples in our forum:

LaN shelling

 LaN shelling+WB

T-Splines

Kangaroo relaxtion

So can someone tell me how to do the relaxation?

Kangaroo? But most of the example works just with open mesh/brep.

Is it possible to relax a closed brep surface with kangaroo?????

Thanks!!!!

Closed or open BRep doesn't matter for kangaroo. It's just easier to find the fixed points if they are all on naked edges.

The result of Kangaroo will strongly depend on where you fix the fabric. Also do not expect it to look anywhere near the t-splines version.

hmmm,,,it seems, that maybe smoothing is not a very good method. ....

but tsplines doesn't work all the time, ,,,,it needs a good luck, when working with voronoi edges...

The kind of surface relaxation with Kangaroo shown in your bottom image is trying to minimize the area of the surface, so it doesn't make sense without some fixed boundaries (it will just shrink to nothing).

Another type of smoothing you could use is Laplacian smoothing (which does not increase the face count, unlike subdivision, so you can use many iterations of it without the mesh getting too heavy).

Have you tried looking through the many definitions posted in this thread:

http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/skeletal-mesh

thanks for your reply!

i've learn a lot from your post!

But there's a big problem.

your definition skeletal_mesh.gh can just creat an open skeleton mesh( that means without outer facade skeleton). Do you know how to change the script a little bit to creat a skeleton mesh like this??

and to the skeletalMevenbetter.gh, its  reverse logic is really impressive. But, as it uses the point cloud as the intersection center of the skeleton,  it's really hard to control the final shape of the work.

could you give me some advise?

Ps: tsLoft component or Exoskeleton component work also not very good....
