Have you tried with a macro? This might work the first time you start grasshopper:

Something like:

Grasshopper

-Grasshopper D O "File Template Path"

I have tried it out and the problem is that the macro skips to the second command without waiting for grasshopper to open, and the second command won't work without grasshopper opened. 

If your interested and get it to work, please let me know.
