Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Is there a way to specify a viewport to display certain geometry so that it showns only in that viewport and no in all the other ones? I'm trying to simulate some kind of user interface for a presentation and I would like to show diferent parts of the procces in each viewport as in the image (I moved some geometry away and used zoom in Rhino)

This is possible in Rhino, but not in Grasshopper.

If you're willing to draw the geometry yourself (for example using a VB/C# component) then this can be achieved, but not using native components.

I just added a Viewport Filter to the Custom Preview component. It's not an input but rather a component setting (i.e. accessible via the component menu). It supports wild-card matching of viewport names and restricts drawing to only those viewports whose names match the filter:

That's great David, but, that filter does not appear in the release of GH, is there a way to download it?

Well I only just wrote it two hours ago so you'll have to wait till the next release goes out.

Hi Leonardo,

If this is what you need... in GH you can:

Thank you so much Florian, that's exactly what I need. I tried it and this only works with Breps, is there any way to make it work with Curves?

It works with everything that Rhino can display...tell me what you need and i'll quickly modify this script.

Just Curves?

Cheers FF

Yeah, I need to display curves in some views and breps in other ones, just that

I've made some changes so it should display every kind of object. If not please report...oh yes you can provide material now as the original one can...and you can set the thickness of the lines which i think is nice sometimes.

Save the .ghuser file in the user object folder. (You find this folder by clicking in GH on "File - Special Folders - User Objects Folder", then simply paste the file there.) So you can use it all the time ;-)

Bye FF

Florian.

It works perfectly, thank you so much.
the part of the thicknes is a really nice touch. I have a site, www.complexgeometry.com and facebook.com/complexgeometry is it ok for you if I mention you and this component in the site? I think it may be really useful for another designers

Leonardo

Hi Leonardo,

Your welcome. You can post it on your site, of course...but it will be useful only until the next release of gh i think...david has mentioned it before, that he will update the custom preview component.

Cheers FF
