Selected objects should become highlighted even if preview disabled

I wish that objects from components whose preview is OFF would become highlighted (therefor temporarily visible) when the said component is selected.

The alternative is to select the option "Only draw preview geometry for selected objects", but this is not practical when you want to see the context.

I agree it would be nice to have this as one of the display behaviours.

I appreciate this is rather an old thread, but did this ever go anywhere? is anything like this possible now?
