REQUEST: More GUI options for sliders, toggles, list selectors

I am constantly battling against "ragged edges" in my control panels, which is just unsightly.  Currently there is some ability to stretch the size of the playfield on the right side of a slider.  Ideally all of the special parameters would allow you to stretch both sides of the object, allowing you to line up the break points and set up nice banks of sliders, toggles, and selectors.  Any tools to aid in this process would be welcome (such as the align tool for components).

Speaking of the align tool... it would be great if you could select groups of objects (without selecting the objects within) and align group edges in a similar way (and have all contained components follow).

Cheers,

Marc

Hah.  I'd hire that kitty in a second.

I wouldn't take my clients into a room I designed if 70% of the pictures on the wall were crooked, all at a slightly different random angle.  Nor would I expect my design colleagues to sit in that room 8 hours a day...

I would go mad in about 15 minutes ;)

I think OCD has a high incidence rate amongst programmer and I'm certainly not immune. I like the idea of providing more tools to align elements on the canvas (I use Alt+Arrows all the time to make sure wires are perfectly horizontal).

Maybe I'll have some time to experiment with this stuff after 0.9

This discussion reminds me of our earlier discussion regarding "proxy style remote control panel".  I want to link the previous suggestion here with this thread since it is a natural extension of Marc's request.
