rearranging multiple inputs

hello, is there a way to rearrange multiple inputs for example in a loft. after connecting 5 cables to the input you want to put the first one to fourth position... i think the same would be nice with the 'merge' command so you can just drag and drop first position to fourth within the input manager and the cables rearrange on the outside. could safe some time, dont know if it is worth the programming or if someting like it is possible already?
