algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey there!
So, I'm trying to make a tetrahedron spaceframe out of a bunch of triangles.
which I guess is moving along ok, but im kinda stuck at the moment.

MAIN PROBLEM:
I dont want every joint of the frame to form a tetrahedron.. only every second.
Currently the order in which the larger triangles are divided.. there's no order to to make a system out of it. So all the triangles are divided a bit randomly.

I've tried a bunch of approaches, but I'm currently banging my head towards the wall.
Would appreciate some help!
And since im in a little bit of a hurry.. the faster, the better!

SECONDARY PROBLEM:
When trying to offset the "top/bottom"(which is actually the centroid of the triangle divisions) of the tetrahedron, the points doesn't seem to want to follow the direction of the large/outer triangle normal.
(Quite weird really!)

Ok, so I ended up with a new approach!
(which seem to work really well!)

I am able to make the spaghetti work with one triangle cell, but not with multiple.

I think i've already located where it all goes haywire, but I'm not able to twist my brain enough to understand what the fix would be.

Any help would be appreciated.
