algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Can anyone help me to understand how planes are distributed to different surfaces?  This is just a two-point rec extruded in Rhino and then exploded to retrieve the single surfaces.  When I divide surf and apply a plane normal all the planes on every surface are orientated differently.... The surface on the right seems to orient the planes the way they should be orientated, green up and red right. But the one on the left is green right and red down.

Hi Jason,

The Fault is not the surface's but the way in which you are assigning the Planes in Grasshopper. You are providing a Location and a Normal direction which gives GH the freedom to select an "infinite" amount of possible solutions for one of the other axis directions.

Use the SFrames component which will take the UV direction of the surface into account.
