algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi all,
I am looking for a way to panel a few metaballs. As I'm looking for a best solution for this kind of surface, I'm not too picky when it comes to the shape of the panels as long as they are not triangles and planar. By the way, I'm fairly new to grasshopper.
Any ideas?
thanks in advance,
a.

well, the image you have may be made in a rather simple (yet not fully automatic) way. Divide your curves with divide curve component and then use the delaunay triangulation (mesh). Youll have some work to clean it (which may be automated but thats not the case now), but its not so hard to do that manually.
Other way, more robust and automatic is to use marching cubes delivered with Millipede plugin (the isosurface component). In this case you wont have as much control, but youll get a smooth mesh - the biggest disadvantage of that method is that it calculates a bit longer than the previous one.
oh, sorry for not being more clear!!
The image is a sample of geometry that I already have. I want it to be paneled in some kind of controlled manner - I'm obviously not too good in explaining - I'm attaching an image of nicely paneled piece of a sphere, but the problem that I'm dealing with is that my metaballs are neither spheres, nor uv surfaces, so non of the paneling tools that I'm aware of actually work..
ok, so there are few methods...
first one : http://www.grasshopper3d.com/group/starling/forum/topics/slexamples...
second one : http://www.grasshopper3d.com/group/kangaroo/page/example-files (you can find there plenty of examples.
Thank you!! I'll check all of that out.
