Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello there,

I'm stuck at a problem for a whole day now and I just don't know what I did wrong. Here's the setup.

I'm generating a kind of anisotropic mesh of which the transverse connections are supposed to have a cutoff if they get too long, in order to rip the mesh open, so to speak. Now, the cutoff value should be related to an attractor, so that no matter how long the springs actually are, they will break really quickly if they were close to the attractor in the beginning. THIS, however, doesn't seem to work at all and I'm very confused. Did I mess up the paths? Doesn't look like it.

Also, if you activate the disabled spring component, the mesh is influenced by it although the UpperCutoff value is at 0.1. Why??

I've coloured the springs so you can see when they're supposed to snap off. However, again, the movement in the mesh tells me that the cutoff acts different from what it's supposed to do.

Hope you guys have an idea what went wrong here...

Oliver
