Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi Guys,

Would you know or have any essays, book or even Grasshopper Definitions which explains how to draw and/or list the different kind of Islamic geometric patterns ?

I am trying to use Grasshopper to make a contemporary version of a "Mashrabiya" (see without being seen) using a varying pattern.

Caglar did something similar here:

Many thanks,

Arthur

Thanks Vahid, sounds great! As long as there are diagrams, images and other elements which I can understand, it should be very helpful. Is it available as PDF ?

dear arthur,
maybe this is interesting for you?

http://www.amazon.com/Arabian-Geometric-Patterns-revised-Pepin/dp/9...

here only the paterns are shown,
but with a little manual (drawing) how to create them.

Thanks a lot Rassul !

Seems like a very helpful book.

the declaration could be a little better!
but there are many patterns are shown,
with a small drawing, that the basis of the pattern shows.

It kills all the fun when they show how the pattern is drawn, like playing Commandos with walkthroughs :)

Did you have a look here? There are examples with actual references.

I know a very nice Turkish book that you can use. I will see in the evening and let you know if the bookstore ships it abroad. I couldn't find it online.

the link you gave me contain just some photos of real islamic places. it is't so useful. it's better to know something about the geometry of these patterns and geometrical way of drawing them and this could be inspiring.

There's a detailed section which includes drawings and analytical material accessed from the menu on the left:  http://www.patterninislamicart.com/drawingsdiagramsanalyses/

also if you give me your email I will send some of them to you

Thanks Caglar, amazing website, and that's nice of you Vahid!

My email is arthurmani@gmail.com
