Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi GH team,

I clustered my code for elegance and now want to un-cluster it to make some changes.  It seems that requires me to copy and paste then rebuild.  Bummer.

Is there a different solution to this?

Thanks,

Luckily I posted my code before I exploded it and can retrieve an earlier copy.  Yeah!

yes, copy/paste is the only way. You can make the process a little less painful with a few tricks. You can use alt-drag on the canvas to spread other components apart and make room for your unclustered components. You can also use ctrl-shift drag to move entire bundles of wires from the nodes entering your cluster object back to the corresponding nodes in the unclustered paste. This is also a good reason to organize your clusters cleanly, with all the inputs on the left and all the outputs all the way to the right - makes it easier to manage especially in situations like this.

I agree an automatic way to do this would be very nice!

Thanks for the tips Andrew.  I was lucky and found a not too distant copy on my posts that I was able to bring up the the current version, thus avoiding all the rebuilding.  I did try rebuilding it and was amazed at how quickly the logic of my build had escaped my memory.

Is the a good way to document what the containers are doing?  By the way what are the containers/batteries/program modules/sub-routine objects called?
