Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I have an plan image of the free form panels which I highlighted in green. I want to use this image to select the equivalent panels in the freeform with the green highlights in the image.

Hopefully I conveyed the message properly.

Thanks.

Homar

Using a fairly noisy image is not the most foolproof way to do this. If you can see your way to sketching out the outlines of those holes as curves it would be better...

Thanks David. I'll edit the image and make the highlights in pure black and more contrast(sharper). I think it is what you mean?

Hi,

i think the best answer will be from the MASTER!

however take this one too...

Best,

Raul

PS: take the structure, project ont XY and delete the panels you dont need. Much better than picture...

Hi Raul,

Thanks, but deleting panels manually maybe ok for a small structure like my example. But for a really big surface with lots of panels might take a lot of time.

Again thanks for your time.

Hi Homar, guys,
I thought taking multiple (3) samples per face would contribute to a reliable selection:

I went for the green filter too initially, but it's (in retrospect) not ideal, as green and white both have a large amount of green in them. You'll want to use the Red or Blue filter instead.

:) indeed, thanks for the feedback David.

Hi Pieter,

I'm gonna try to use your definition in a quite big structure with more panels (with the red/blue) as David R's advise.

Thank you so many.

Homar

I found that resizing the image to about 5% of your original size helps too. That way you won't need to sample multiple points.
