Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I recently started using gh, here is a simple process but not sure how to make it

I want a mass populated into point within the mass, and then through wind blowing or sunlight attracting, these populate cells or points would together somewhere(see attached as the logic), and finally reshape as a deformed mass..

Basically, what I try to achieve is to deform a mass by natural forces, so I wanna use parametric process to transform the shape.

BTW, in terms of basic technique, how to apply curve as parameter to deform the mass

anyone could help?

appreciate!!

Since it's very difficult to re-assemble a polysurface from a deformed pointcloud, I think the best way forward is to use SpaceMorphs, which is what Rhino uses insude commands like Twist, Bend, Splop, CageEdit etc.

This will almost certainly require custom coding, though it may be minimal if you can create before and after points for a morphing cage. I'll try after breakfast if I can make something work.

Hi David! thanks a lot!

because a few days a ago, i saw some one dispersed a house massing with color-coded programs into lots of color-coded particles or 'pointcloud', and then move the pointcloud by some rules or processes, to reshape the massing, which I think is quite a good idea to reconstruct the mass conceptually.

I look forward to your work :)))))

Actually it seems like bad news, the CageEdit functionality has not been exposed in the Rhino SDK, if if we want to use it in GH someone has to re-implement it from scratch...

Yeah, it's too difficult, I don't know the mathematics required to keep the cage parameterisation constant.
