algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all, 

I'm exploring fractal logic as part of a student architecture project and wondered if anyone knows of a way to apply a fractal/ recursion logic to a surface within grasshopper? What I'm looking for is something that takes the outline of the surface and applies some sort of fractal logic with different parameters to create a pattern on the original surface, in a similar way to the 2002 Serpentine Pavilion design by Toyo Ito and Cecil Balmond (see images) 

If anyone can help or has any suggestions, that would be a great help!

There's no generic solution to such patterns in Grasshopper, so any specific problem will need a specific approach.
