algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Dear grasshopper community!

I'm having a major block in my project, I'm trying to make a complex pattern of 3d elements, whose shapes depend on each other, so they deform together. To make you understand me better i'm including a pattern I generated based on this : http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/how-to-change-a-flat-hexa... discussion. 

As you can see it's a distorted hexagon pattern, some of the hexagons are bigger and some smaller but all are connected and work together.

My 3d element in plan is a hexagon too, I want it to behave like the 2D pattern, such that the shape of one influences the other and so on. Ideally, such that the parameters of opening and closing the cone can be controlled and eventually form an animation. 

I tried many different things but I seem to get stuck every time. 

Any ideas?
