algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Just for better understanding I tried to realize something like:
http://arcode.blogspot.in/search/label/curved%20folding
I want to better understand developable surfaces and unrolling by using Grasshopper.- So the outcome (see scipt) comes close to what I try, unfortunatelly I found out that I do not understand a lot yet. The 3d is a platonic solid - Dodecahedron. Here my questions:
- the old "evaluate curve" component seems to work differently from the actual one (?). (Please see the attached script).
- with a lot of trial and error I found the grid list, but I still do not really understand the logic behind it.
- instead of the "smooth polyline" (used by accident) component I would have expected that I had to use the "offset curve" component. But it's not producing what I wanted (offset curves to the inner side of the pentagons).
- The triangels are represented by multiple points. Why does this happen and how can I cull the multiples? What defines the sequence of the points?
- What would be the systematic to select the triangle points (aim: to close the triangles with flat surfaces)?
After reading many tutorials it seems to me that using "List Item" is still a lot of magic to me. I would appriciate some more hints. Thanks for all the surpassing effort and extraordinary help in this forum!
