Data Matching

I have two trees, and I need to pair them, based on a matching branch item (an ID number). I need to match the structure of the second tree (which is a list of the IDs) so that the tree containing other data has the same paths for any branch that contains each ID. 

Essentially, I have an excel file with data identified by an ID number. I also have a shapefile with polygons identified by equivalent IDs. I want to pair each row of excel data with the appropriate polygon.
