Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

First of all, thank you so much for all the knowledge sharing. I am working my way through the primer (thank you Lift) , slowly I may add and thank you for for all the tirelss help tutorials and videos out there. I am a complete newbie and am at the stage where I am working through tutorials in order to increase my knowlege.

I was working through a tutorial posted some time ago on the design reform website. Where there is a rectanguar grid, where circles are mapped onto the points of the grid and there is then an atttractor which controls the diameter of the circles depending on the distance from said attractor point....

http://designreform.net/2008/07/grasshopper-patterning-with-2-attra...

Sound familiar?

My question would be: IS it possible to "move" the points of the grid depending on the distance of the attractor?

Please be gentle as I am a complete novice.

Any advice is most welcome.

Kindest

To better illustrate my point, I knocked up a quick sketch.

Thanks for such a swift reply Michael, I am very grateful. I will let you know how I get on.

Hello all,

More attractor questions!

Following on from this, is it then possible to control a subdivided surface with an attractor or attractor curve? (where points are attached to the subdivides? And these subdivided intersections are pushed or pulled?

The surface would be a nurbs surface created in rhino, divided with the divide domain (u and V) then iso trimed which is surface divided (the old surface divide button for simplicity) points are then mapped to the u and v intersections. Can these points be influenced by an attractor, I managed with a graph mapper but am unable with a true attractor. I have attached an image sketch to better explain myself

I hope you guys can point me in a positive direction.

Best

P.
