Apply a time history as a force, displacement, or acceleration to a node, base?

Anyone tried to apply excitation loads to nodes in a flexible Kangaroo structure to simulate behavior? Such as a sine wave load the center of a catenary cable. Or, perhaps an earthquake base acceleration time history (Accel, displacement, force, over time?). Not sure if there a way to apply base shear/base excitation to see the response.

Any input, discussion of feeback appreciated.
