Operations on Kangaroo data trees output from simulation geomtery, nodes
2 Replies

If multiple springs are used in a kangaroo model, they all force into one input. THere is also only one output for all these grouped elements. My challenge is Post-processing operations on there data…Continue

Apply a time history as a force, displacement, or acceleration to a node, base?

Anyone tried to apply excitation loads to nodes in a flexible Kangaroo structure to simulate behavior? Such as a sine wave load the center of a catenary cable. Or, perhaps an earthquake base…Continue

Array of breps along a curve

Is there a way to select a Brep Geometry, then have GH use that source to place it along a curve, at the GH-based division points, remaining true to the planarity of the line (i.e. orientating it's…Continue

Splitting up quads to triangles, using the points for Hydro, Wind?

Trying to figure out how to extract the points from a mesh that can be used at the Point 1,2,3 for the hydro, wind? The wind example per kangaroo seems broken, so wasn't able to learn from that one…Continue

Daniel Piker replied to Michael Roberts's discussion Operations on Kangaroo data trees output from simulation geomtery, nodes
"Hi Michael, While the force objects need to be flattened, the 'geometry' input doesn't. So you can use data trees for your different lists of elements here. The output geometry then keeps the same data structure, so they can be…"

"Thx Florian: Very nice. This would certainly perform the intent. It looks as though you are building the chain from start, which is also cool. Do you think that it's possible just to do the same with a referenced brep only? Therefore, the chain…"

"Hi Michael, you can divide the curve and cunstruct planes on those divisionpoints aligned each to the next point of this division. So further you can rotate each others plane normal 90 degrees et voila you have your chain. Hope this is what…"

Is there a way to select a Brep Geometry, then have GH use that source to place it along a curve, at the GH-based division points, remaining true to the planarity of the line (i.e. orientating it's insertion or centroid point properly on the curve)?Sort of an array, but something like the sphere 3D which can be placed on nodes, points, or division points, etc.Thinking for use in a chain link on a parametric line, to avoid drawing each time it changes.ThxSee More
