Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi All and greets from Australia

I have been programming parametrics (basic GDL) for quite a while and stumbled on grasshopper...I love it.

After seeing the incredible work of the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg...I am wanting to make some similar panels for my home studio (live room).

I have followed a number of tutorials on youtube...unfortunately many of them have mistakes eg

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pLd4-T-l2WM

Dont know whether its because of the software updates since eg the Brep bug...but it has wasted a lot of my time when Im sure Im just going for very basic stuff (I did work out that voronoi only accepts rect coords for bound box etc). Happy to learn it myself though...just dont have a lot of time to waste. Im guessing voronoi has undergone a couple of changes since inception.

So my question is this:

Is there any resource where I can download a recent project that will create a similar output to the attached pics. That way I have a robust starting point. Its a great way of doing parametrics...a bit like PureData but for spatial models.

SPECIFICALLY: The example on left is a boolean of the panel on the right...what is the most efficient way to get the vertically oriented stepping features in grasshopper (of the panel on the right)?

I will probably invert the dishes as I have found convex diffusion much more effective in smaller spaces.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Attached are target pics and a test voronoi I did showing the need to union the bounding curves before feeding to the voronoi module.

Cheers
