Kangaroo power law understanding functionality

Is it true that the Power Law in Kangaroo only works on the initial distance between input points?  As I was experimenting with the component, it seemed like varying the Strength or the Cutoff when the simulation is running did not update the attraction between the points.  How can I vary the strength of attraction between 2 points when the simulation is running?
