Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hi everyone. I am working on this project where I am trying to manipulate text to fit AND fill flat curved surfaces (or even between two dissimilar curves). I can't seem to find an efficient way to flow the text along a curve AND skew the text at the same time. I attached an image of what I want to do, which I did in Illustrator using the warp envelope tool, but it takes forever.

Basically, what I want to do is similar to sweeping a surface between two rails, but just with text so that the top and bottom of the text matches the top and bottom curves.

Does anyone have any grasshopper solutions? I've found some approaches to warping text and mapping text, but nothing that really works. Any suggestions or ideas would be great thanks!

hi chrissy, think of your two curves as a distorted rectangle, then you can use the MapToSrf component. It takes a set of curves to mainpulate (Your text) a source surface and a target surface.

So you just need to connect your two curves with lines at the end and fill it in the crv containers for the target edgeSrf.

have fun

already had time check it out?

Hi Chrissy - you described the exact problem I've got and have spent hours googling for solutions to. I thought Illustrator could do this with ease but apparently it can't. I figured rhino & GH must be able to since I have a rhino document from a client showing that it can be done. Thanks for asking!
