Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everyone!

I'm having a problem with some diagrid panels I'm trying to get from lines that I've distorted.. I found a very useful component called Diagrid Panels, which worked perfectly  when I use little attactor points, but when I added more, the panels dont seem to work anymore, I think it might be a problem with a list.. Can anybody help me out?

Thanks so much in advance!

Here is a photo of what is happening.. attached are the files!

here is the file

Hi ,

I see you are using the ghuser object from my blog. Unfortunately I cannot recreate the problem you are having just by the gh file. Can you provide the 3dm as well?

Bear in mind that this component works when the points creating the diagrid don't overlap with each other and while the topology of the points remains the same. otherwise you will be getting faulty panels. If the distortion is somehow normalized the component should work just fine.

best,

M.

Hi Mario!

Yes we got it from your blog! thanks so much!! The rhino file is too large to upload.. but could I email it to you? Its been driving me mad all day!

Just upload the surfaces you are using in the gh definition, not the whole file. But I am like, 90% certain that your problem is the discontinuity of the initial point topology.

Hi Mario! Im not sure what you mean... but I think I made the file small enought to be able to upload

Cheers, I will take a look at it tomorrow as I am not on a desktop now, and I'll let you know!

Thanks for the reply Mario 100% certain
@babym like I said on this discussion you have to create a valid list, I see that your attractors deformed the grid making missing points and overlapping.

Yes! We're actually working together! We've been trying to do this all day but since we're relatively new to grasshopper we can't seem to find where the problem is.. could you help us out?

Hi,

@Erick thank you for citing me at the previous discussion.

@ babym

As Erick stated you need to have a valid pointlist in order for my script to work. By valid I mean that it has to include points, the topology of which is similar to this of a rectangular grid(so same number of objects in each row, same number objects in each column, no duplicates, no missing points). Take a look at the attached to see how the script performs if the list of points is valid.

Best,

M

Thanks so much Mario! That clears it up! So sorry, we we're really confused! But thanks so much!
