algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hexagon selection

Hi,

I want to select hexagons from grid, so that every selected hexagon has only three selected neighbors. It is supposed to look like the pattern on jpeg. 

It must be very simple, but I'm stuck. Any help appreciated!

if you use the hexgrid component, you could use a cull pattern:
