Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I've found some similar threads here, but none seem to have the same errors popping up. I've installed the latest dotNET x86 runtimes a few times with no success in getting gh to open in V5 (currently R2). Win7 x64 through bootcamp on a 2011 macbook pro.

Just yesterday, I did a full, clean reinstall of V5, as I was experiencing some other issues. So I figured that this might allow me to finally get gh back into V5 - which was fine up until, jeeze, I don't remember how long ago as I only find time to get into gh every once in a while.

Anyway, it loads fine in V4. I've attached a screenshot of the error.

Any ideas?

Muchas Gracias,

Ernest

The error happens well into the process of Grasshopper, so the problem is not something which would prevent Grasshopper from loading altogether, like out-of-date runtimes.

The method that wasn't found (according to the error window) is Global_Proc.Settings, which is indeed no longer present in recent builds of Grasshopper. So something which is unaware of this fact is trying to access this method anyway, causing the error. Unfortunately the call stack (the long list of method names interspersed with "at"s) seems to indicate a problem with resource access.

Do you have any 3rd party GHA's installed or perhaps User objects that include VB/C#/Python script components? If yes, please remove these and see if that solves the startup problem. If no, then it may be the case that the Grasshopper installation was botched and you have a mixture of old and new files that don't play well together. In this case, please uninstall Grasshopper completely and then search your machine for any file called Grasshopper.dll and GrasshopperPlugin.rhp. You should not find any such file if all is well.

Then re-install 0.9.0012.

If all this doesn't work I'll need to come up with a different plan.

Wonderful. Thank you David!

After removing all components from the Roaming folder, and fully deleting/reinstalling GH, it fired up in V5 nicely:)

I'll let you know if I determine which component gives me grief as I reload them one by one - should one dare.

Thanks,

Ernest
